Common Sense Archive

Common Sense.
  1. If you want to ensure the legality of an election you must know who is voting (require an ID to vote)
  2. A nation must control it's boarder, that is what makes it a nation and why it is called a boarder
  3. Punishment for a crime should be hard, that is why it is called punishment!
  4. A minority party is deluding itself by claiming that the majority party is, "out of the mainstream."
  5. For some strange reason a pro-American bias is now considered rightwing, it's not it is just American.
  6. Continued comparison of people to Hitler reduces the impact of Hitler's crimes (oh and it makes us ignore those doing the comparisons - the same applies to the terms crooks and liars!)
  7. Every pie thrown at a conservative should be treated as if it contained some type of chemical or acid. It isn't just a harmless prank or an expression of free speech!
  8. If you drink coffee while driving chances are good you will spill! Spilling coffee on your couter (BTW, is that spelled couter or like hooter?) is going to hurt - coffee is hot, always has been always will be! If it weren't hot you would complain to the manager!

The Good Thing About Pain

The good thing about pain is when it goes away, even for a couple of days. Other then that and pain letting you know your alive I can't think of many good things about it (aside from the obvious pain warnings of a hot stove but that isn't the kind of pain I am discussing here).

Spent yesterday puking and napping - not the flu but a reaction to something. Not sure what but I have been extra dizzy lately.

And when I say puking I mean violently throwing up! Luckily it started early enough that I had only had water and a bit of coffee. Kept it from being too bad. 3rd time this year - treatment and management had kept that symptom limited to just once or twice a year.

Strangely enough I learned how Yogi's can control their breathing, after all they can breath through any orifice, even a straw sticking out of their punjana, right Eddy? While I was trying to control the pain and nausea I actively regulate my breathing. As I would begin to doze off I would actually stop breathing and I would wake and have to start myself breathing again. This went on for about an hour or so. Sounds strange but because I was actively controlling this autonomic function it wasn't ready to kick in automatically (as in autonomic) either because of the illness and pain or because of exhaustion - one way or another it wasn't ready to kick in as I fell asleep. It feels really strange and scary to have to remind yourself to breath!

But enough about that....pain and chronic illness do challenge one's positive attitude. Was it Ben Franklin who said that one can only appreciate health, wealth, and sleep when they have been interrupted?

Regaining The Offense

Republicans have to get back on offense and force a REAL fillibuster - you know, the Mr. Smith performance just like the Dem's are running in their ads! Should the Democrats actually be able to pull that off then use the constitutional option, but one way or another force this issue!

That is the only path to victory against an opponent who has no ideas of their own, which is the current state of the Democratic Party.

It is a strategy that the Dem's have played well since the policy of personal destruction was founded by the Clinton team. They are going to stonewall and delay everything in hopes that momentum will be lost. In the process they can frame the arguments and they can play up every fabricated scandal about every Republican you can imagine.

I fear the shift is beginning! Republican majorities were enhanced in great part to end the obstructionist tactics of the past 4 years, but the Dem's could actually win despite losing!

Dem's can smell the weakness of the Republican Senate Leadership! When a party fails to act because they fear the loss of it's majority then that majority is already lost!

Frist dropped the ball by not pushing the judicial nominations and enforcing the constitutional option! Yes, ANWR was important, but the leadership should have made the obstructionist issue front and center from the start of the Senate's term. The President has been pushing since his reelection for his agenda, now he needs the Senate leadership to prioritize and take action!

Some may put some of the blame on Delay and the House, but as near as I can tell Delay is still sticking to his agenda and doing his best to ignore the mud that is being flung at him! And as near as I can tell this issue would have never gotten the level of attention it has if the Senate had done what we elected them to do - confront the obstructionist by confirming the President's judicial nominations!

It is now imperative that the Republicans regain the offensive!

The judicial nomination issue has to be forced NOW!

Arguments need to be on point, the failed UN is the issue, not the successful Mr. Bolton!

Tax reform, Social Security reform, and the rest of the President's agenda will be lost if these strategic changes aren't implemented NOW! And that means action must be taken - being on offense means action - defense is inaction and delay!

Entertainment Trek - Screaming Like a Girl!

Okay, I have given my opinion on the Lexus commercial and a few others early in my bloggin so I thought I would give my input on another.

David Spade stars in the new Capital One "NO" commercials. I wasn't a big fan of them and they got old really quick - however when they hired the intern they began to improve.

The horn incident made me laugh!

The "bright yellow shirt" where the intern runs down the aisle screaming like a little girl made me laugh so hard I almost wet myself! (I can't find them online yet.....so no link)

So, although I don't like the newest Lexus commercials at all, and despite the fact that I had tired of the Capital One NO commercials....

I LOVE the two recent mishap installations of the series.

Oh, by the way, watched half the Desperate Housewives episode - just don't have any shows that I have to make it a point to see each week except South Park - to see how they were going to handle the gay issue. So far so good, but it sure wasn't a major storyline yet - they made it more of a passing mention.

UPDATE: More on the Yellow Shirt ads here!

Ass Biting On Demand!

"This is another example of where we just don't get it," says a Democratic pollster in New York. "We knew the Pope was dying. We knew we had an opportunity, and we just ignore it and go ahead and act like the Democrats all those Red Staters think we are. We attack the Republicans for trying to save the Schiavo woman, and we ignore the Pope's passing. Somehow I know this is just going to come back and bite us in the ass."

Well, who am I to let down a Democratic Pollster - especially one willing to talk to The American Spectator's Prowler.

Her Catholicism notwithstanding, Pelosi was especially adamant about pressing ahead with the political agenda, according to a House leadership staffer. "This wasn't counter-intuitive," says the staffer. "This was just being stupid and stubborn. It's another example of where we are going wrong as a party."

It is all about Nancy boy (Blows-me) Pelosi and Harry ass Reid's agenda, damn those Catholics...

President Bush devoted his weekly radio address to praising the John Paul II, recalling the Pope's heroic charge for freedom and devotion to the culture of life.

Democrats around the country were said to be angry that Reid and Pelosi wasted an opportunity to show the party's faithful side to a nation that clearly would spend the weekend focused on the death of the Pope, and not judges.

But the Democrats just couldn't! They had to push ahead with their agenda despite this once in a lifetime event.

Democrats have been patting themselves on the back lately that they have figured out how to better communicate with Red State America. You wouldn't have known it on Friday and Saturday, when congressional minority leaders, Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi refused to adapt the party's weekly radio address to the breaking news that Pope John Paul II was on his death bed.

"We had a plan in place for a national radio address that would have highlighted the Pope's stand on social justice and equality for all," says a Democratic National Committee staffer. "They wouldn't do it. They said it would look like pandering, that it wasn't helpful

They really don't get it.

Gay Threat Level Lowered - High (Orange)

Hey, according to Orbit Mr. Rogers bought ad space on his site.

Good - maybe I will finally be encouraged to see what nobody (that I know) is talking about! LOL, I have stopped there once now and found it unentertaining, messy and - actually boring.

Now lowering the threat level was a difficult decision considering it was noted that Mike Rogers has attacked Log Cabin Republicans for supporting Social Security reform. Here is what he said:

Mike Rogers is criticizing Log Cabin Republican director Patrick Guerriero for “getting into bed with” USA Next - the folks behind the anti-gay AARP ad.

Shame on Gurriero for hopping into bed with USA Next. By doing so, The President of Log Cabin has sold out EVERY gay man and lesbian in America.
Ahmmmm… no. This is blatant deception on Rogers’ part - which is easy for him to do, as most of his readers are easily led and know little about critical thinking and doing their own research.

Rogers is implying that Log Cabin and USA Next are partners in something, when that is completely untrue. Log Cabin, rightly, has signed on to the president’s Social Security restructuring plan. Why? Because it is good for gay people - or at the very least, it’s much better than the current system.

Shame on Mike Rogers for NOT supporting a plan that would allow gay Americans to pass on their retirement plans to whomever they choose. Shame on Mike Rogers for (I assume) supporting the current system that discriminates against gay and lesbian Americans. By getting into bed with those that support the status quo, Mike Rogers has sold out EVERY gay man and lesbian in America.

I couldn't agree more and said so before here!

In addition he pulled a trackback Orbit put on his site. That isn't how a blog is supposed to work is it?

Danger To The South

CIA director Porter Goss wasn't kidding when he put Mexico in with Venezuela, Haiti, Bolivia and Nicaragua as the most unstable countries in the hemisphere.

So begins The American Thinker's analysis of the political outlook for the upcoming Mexican elections this year.

As a substitute for reform, Fox encouraged Mexicans to skip over the border to the U.S., to take up life as illegal aliens - and send dollars back to Mexico
.
The danger on our southern boarder is hard to ignore,
why has an administration that I have praised for addressing issues and not, "kicking the can down the road," (like virtually every issue during the eight years of Clinton) not properly addressed this issue?

Could it be
the plight of those already here,
The poverty, the exploitation by the migrant rackets, the permanent underclass status, the ease with which aliens can lose everything they've worked to build if they are apprehended by law enforcement is heartbreaking. These people are helpless.
Understandably concerning and worth addressing, but not valid for ignoring the boarder issue and those who are still streaming across the boarder aren't helped by being trapped in this same hell!

Earlier I posted that perhaps there was something we didn't know about the southern boarder and our war on terror efforts, perhaps a cooperative Fox is better then a Chavez look alliance.
For the U.S., there's a potential Hugo Chavez on its border, one who's already talking about an oil alliance with Venezuela. Oil supplier number three teaming up with oil supplier number four to stick it to the gringos sounds like $105 a barrel oil already. For Latin America, there's one more demagogue ready to retard the region's growth by destroying Latin America's largest economy. The danger is obvious to everyone.

The Power of Faith

Charles Krauthammer has the definative analysis of the Pope's impact on the world:
I am not much of a believer, but I find it hard not to suspect some providential hand at play when the white smoke went up at the Vatican 27 years ago and the Polish cardinal was chosen to lead the Catholic Church. Precisely at the moment that the West most desperately needed it, we were sent a champion. It is hard to remember now how dark those days were.

Gay Threat Level - Change - Severe (Red)

Wow, that didn't last long - There are warnings of a Gay Radical attack, as such the threat level has been raised to Severe (Red):

Gay Orbit

Mike Rogers believes that my little banner on the right is a violent call to action. He emailed me to say so. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I use a word like terrorize, I mean it exactly as I stated here:

ter·ror·ize
tr.v. ter·ror·ized, ter·ror·iz·ing, ter·ror·iz·es
To fill or overpower with terror; terrify.
To coerce by intimidation or fear. See Synonyms at frighten.

——————————————————————————–
terror·i·zation (-r–zshn) n.
terror·izer n.

He goes on to implore people to only Email Mr. Rogers
So, this is NOT a violent call to action. Gay people have had enough violence done to them over the decades. We certainly don’t need to be doing it to each other. And Mike Rogers doesn’t deserve to be physically injured any more than you or me.

I agree - as I stated before I reserve the use of the word Terrorist, but I can't argue with the defination! Mike Rogers outings and threats are designed to Terrorize those he targets and it is disgusting.
Therefore, let me be absolutely clear: as it states in the banner, the “call to action” is clearly to email Mike Rogers and register your disgust at his outing campaign. As well, the story that led up to this call to action has been so thoroughly reported in the blogosphere and elsewhere that anyone who believes this is a call to violence clearly has been sleeping through it. There is nothing - absolutely nothing - intended to imply a violent response. It’s not a call to violence, no matter how Mike Rogers wants to portray it that way. Is it a little shocking and attention grabbing? Sure. But it’s that way for a reason. I want you to notice it. I want you to e-mail him and register your disgust at his tactics.

Here is his contact info if you care to share your disgust! As always logical and thoughtful arguments please!

DU Insane Rants - A Challenge

In my previous post - If you can't throw an election throw a fit - I compared the Democratic Underground (DU) to the insane:
...a day at DU is like walking into a shrill and painful sounding psycho ward. The one where the constant painful cries of, "I AM Napoleon and my empire HAS been stolen," echo off of the bare cement walls until your ears hurt and you are forced to turn away in sorry disgust.

Here is a challenge - come up with other commonly known insane rants from folklore, movies, books that would apply to the current rants at DU. (election stolen, war is illegal, Bush undermined the UN.....hahahah that one made me laugh.....)
DKK

BTW, I would like to apologize to the insane for the painful comparison!

Gay Alert Level - High (Orange) - Forced Outing Watch

We have gone a couple of days without a forced outing or forced shut down of free speech by the holier then thou Gay radicals so I have lowered the Gay Threat Level from Severe (Red) to High (Orange).

However, with the increased action on the part of the Gay radicals I have joined the Forced Outing Watch coalition. I will update the sidebar with the links as soon as I figure out how to do it and have it look normal.

DKK

Update: I couldn't get it to post here but I will get it up and running on the sidebar ASAP.

If you can't throw an election throw a fit!

Just one day after the attacks on William Kristol and the attempted interruptions of Ann Coulter we have this from Drudge:

Pat Buchanan Attacked at W. Michigan U; Man Jailed For Throwing Salad Dressing...

Video...

This follows the attempts to silence GayPatiot and LimeShurbet and I couldn't help but wonder if these attacks weren't somehow a coordinated effort.

Not that there is a vast left wing conspiracy, but something more then the old, "we can't throw an election so we are going to throw a fit."

A sign of frustration or of a complete breakdown of the Democratic Party - I'll let you be the judge.
DKK

Expanding -

I am not accusing anyone of crooked elections but I find it enlightening that Democrats screamed about the last two elections being stolen - but the common sense fixes, like requiring valid ID (or even expired ID as in Georgia) gets a walk out by Dem's in the Indiana and Georgia legislature as well as a threatened veto in Wisconsin ( my neighbor to the North)!

The left has spent the past 45 years forming a coalition and a platform based on emotion devoid of logic. Let's face it, eliminating poverty feels good - but no matter how hard you try you can't make a logical argument for giving the poor someone else's hard earned money. Reducing the number of criminals sounds great - but try to honestly sell a plan to eliminating the punishment part of our criminal justice system and letting child murderers out of prisons.

This has left the Dem's trapped in the sorry position that breeds emotional violent outbursts from their highly charged followers such as those we have seen. This is why a day at DU is like walking into a shrill and painful sounding psycho ward. The one where the constant painful cries of, "I AM Napoleon and my empire HAS been stolen," arguments echo off of the bare cement walls until your ears hurt and you are forced to turn away in sorry disgust. And those afflicted with this illness can't see it (hence the Ted Rall challenge earlier this year!) which is how they can elect Dean as their chairman.

Enough before I start rambling - what, I'm rambling already.....oh, sorry.

Still at Gay Threat Level Red After Another Attack!

Another blogger has been silenced by the group that attacked GayPatriot (reported here)!

From Outlet Radio Network:
Gay activist Michael Rogers, of Blogactive.com, continues to target critics in an ongoing saga of an online jihad within the blogosphere.

This time the target was LimeShurbet.com, a blog whose site was taken down overnight by the site's commercial service provider. According to sources, LimeShurbert had taken GayPatriot's "WANTED: GAY TERRORISTS" post and created his own "wanted poster" targeting Michael Rogers and John Aravosis (Americablog). Rogers alerted the service provider which then shut the site down.

It seems questioning the gay (read "liberal gay") groupthink can lead to severe panic on the part of those you might question. I know all about this - for years I was that, "gay Republican," here in town - seriously, a lesbian met my sister once and said to her, "Oh, isn't your brother that gay Republican?"

Danegerous has one of the best essays on how Gays and Lesbians can secure their liberty, and it isn't by following the groupthink/voting block that has relegated blacks to back of the democratic party bus!

You want your rights protected? Advocate individualism and individual rights. I'll accept you.

The attacks on Secretary Rice, AG Gonzales and every other conservative who didn't toe the liberal line has shown Democrats to be the intolerant ones - as my congressman once told me (and was echoed by Wead's Bush tapes) it is your character that matters to true conservatives not what group you belong to!

For years I have said they can pass a law letting me get married and fuck my husband on the corner of State and Main every lunch hour but if I can't afford to take a lunch, keep from getting shot by some criminal who we had to reform instead of punish, or avoid the radiation from the terrorist bomb what good is it? Groupthink is a death sentence (ask the black (D)'s) - rugged individualism (besides the clear gay appeal of anything rugged) is the best way to protect all of our rights!

Visit Dane for the wanted poster as well as his thoughts!
DKK

Update - It seems that Lime Shurbet is back up including this Email from his hosting company with their determination that there is no cause for action:
Content cannot be definition by definition unless it can be shown that the content is inherently and deliberately untrue. In your particular case, a simple google of “michael rogers gay” brought me to an article by The Independent (UK) about the very bullet points you have listed in the graphic, with quotes from him related to that subject. Further searches reveal other stories by regular journalistic outlets as well, with and without quotes. Suggesting people email him to voice their opinion of his actions is also not an actionable offense, since a look at his own site has links for email to the addresses you have listed - since he is inviting contact via email, and lists available addresses, your posting of them poses no violation of any of our policies or of any statutes. It is your opinion that his actions are as you describe them, and people are free to agree or disagree as they see fit, and post their own opinions, if they’d like to do so. In addition, there is nothing in your graphic that urges any violence against anyone - it reads, in fact, more like the sort of online boycott calls that go around from time to time. Therefore, we would take no action related to complaints by the individual about this item on your page other than to suggest he take it up with you.

GayPatriot Update - Gay Threat Level - Severe (Red)!

Hey, I reported on GayPatriot having to quit blogging.

Well it seems he was silenced by threats from one of the activists who loves to out people.

As a gay man I think this is an absolutely abhorrent practices that the fringes of the gay community came up with! Nothing like preaching that your personal life shouldn't matter but then making someone's personal life your focus. (BTW, I have no clue who these two are (I am a bad gay man) but I think they work with Jeff Gannon because I seem to recall always seeing their name with his! (wink, wink))

Anyway, GP called a couple of these guys gay terrorists in a posting framed like a wanted poster. In the times we are in I wouldn't have used that term because it weakens the term terrorist at a time when we are at war with terrorists, but they are definitely EVIL in my opinion.

Check out LGF for the story and let me know what you think.

How You Know Mother Nature is a woman - A Bitchy Woman!

I love mayonnaise! Someone actually invented a food that tastes like sex! Not specifically the taste (although that protein taste of.....um, nevermind) but the comforting and smooth taste, more of a feeling, like the comforting satisfied feeling right after sex.

We all know the tongue tastes sweet, sour, bitter, and salt - but the tongue actually tastes that creamy texture like in Mayo. Which is one of the problems with making fat free items - that texture is hard to replicate without fat!

So mayo is great but why is it so bad for you - nothing like mayo to clog a few capillaries and help lead to an full artery clogging heart attack!

So I am at one of my specialists and I wonder aloud to him why a person gets cravings for the things that are bad for them. (Want to know more about my disability go here and contribute if you can. I will be updating that with more on my illness in the near future!)

Not just things like mayo and sugar, but things like cantaloupe, other melons, and bananas. Yes even bananas! These are bad for me! Did you know these have a protein in them that is very similar to the protein produced in ragweed pollen? Yep - if you have hayfever then these foods can affect you and might explain why some days you feel bad for no reason! Of course I have BAD hayfever but I LOVE fruit - all fruit, especially banana's and melons! (Check your mouth the next time you eat one of these foods - get that tingling coated feeling? Might want to check for hayfever!)

My Doctor turns to me and says, "Well, that is how you can tell Mother Nature is a woman! A man would never make something that tastes so good so bad for you!"

Yea, real scientific I know, but I was Shocked, not that he said that, but that his basic philsophy might be right on the mark - can you just imagine the first discovery of mayo:

Mother Nature: Chef, I want you to make a food that has a wholesome, creamy, full taste that man (generic man, not man man) will love. I thought it would go good with tuna, chicken, or even with potatoes!

Nature's Kitchen - Chef#1: Okay, how about something that reminds the senses of the comforting feeling you get right after sex!

MN: Great idea!

Chef: Okay, how something simple like a mix of broccoli, wheat germ, and tofu for texture?

MN: No, no, no. With a feeling like sex it will be something Men (men men, not the generic men) will want to eat this up and your choices would be too good for you. This is something people will really want to eat! How bout you try this whip these eggs with some oil and spices - a real artery clogging recipe!

Chef: Your the boss!

MN: By the way, do you have any Advil? We aren't even to my heavy flow day and these cramps are downright UNNATURAL!

So I realized my Doctor might just have been onto something. Think about it, if it had been Father nature mayo would have tasted the same but would have been so good for you that eating it would have guaranteed an extra 5 years of life! Mayo, pizza, and beer that is!
DKK

BTW - That someone actually did that fist mixing of mayo or that first recipe of something like an Angle Food Cake is really amazing when you think about it! Most of us don't know the basics of what makes up our food anymore. It isn't hard to believe that following the fall of Rome we lost the recipe of cement for centuries!

Oh, and just to be more offensive, I am now the number 1 ranked site for a google search of, "linger farts".

A Trek for Monday 032805

I'm not sure if my health will allow me to resume Daily Treks, but here is one for today.

Michael Crichton was on Cspan this weekend in one of the Students & Leaders series. It was really good - this guy is one of the most under rated open minded, forward thinking, geniuses of our time.
You can watch it here. It is question and answer but on Cspan he has a couple of other talks recently.

American Future
has this from the Guardian UK about the so called Reality Based Community (Progressive Reality - Suicidal Dreams) that believes the war in Iraq was illegal under international law:
Those who believe that is a fact of cardinal moral importance have not yet had the courage to admit the inevitable conclusion of their position. It is that there now needs to be a "coalition of the willing" to restore the legal government of Saddam Hussein to its rightful position as the sovereign authority in Iraq. Tony Blair must be arrested and tried by the ICC, and Saddam should be the primary witness against him. That is the inescapable logic of the champions of international law. It should make every-one realize how unreal is the world in which they live.

You do realize that without reform there is a guaranteed cut in Social Security benefits! The private accounts are designed to offset that cut that is going to happen.

GayPatriot had to suddenly stop blogging - but thank goodness GayPatriotWest (AKA Dan) is going to keep the site going! No idea why, but I can tell you regular blogging is harder then it looks. I have found I favor Dan's style so I am okay with this.

The man who caused a "Pro" movement update: Instapundit has this NOW THEY'RE MARCHING FOR DEMOCRACY IN MONGOLIA
(Yes I give President Bush credit - and wouldn't it sound bad to call it a positive movement - just sounds too biological to me!)

Roger Simon has a report on Oil For Food and Kofi's knowledge of his son's doings - and when I say doings I mean dealings, and when I say dealings I mean robbery - Roger is very careful about his postings so I would bet this will hit Tuesday when the report comes out - no wonder Kofi has considered resigning lately!

From the WTF (via Drudge) - U.S. soccer team assaulted in Mexico with objects and chants of "Osama" by Mexican fans... Wait, aren't these the guys who's President was just here begging us to carpet the boarder crossings so everyone can come here in comfort? Oh yea, and wasn't he just calling the citizens of the Minuteman Project vigilantes? I say build a wall as tall as it takes! Anyone sneaks in they don't even get a hearing they go back NOW! When one gets shot - and you know one will - give the guy who shot them a medal and send the body back, now no hearing!

Entertainment Trek - Dizzy Day!

Okay, so I watched Desperate Housewives for the first time tonight because of the whole gay story line - I just wanted to see how it played out, not because the guys is hot or anything!

Anyway, was I a week early and next week is the new season or what because they didn't even mention it or have the guy on! So now I wasted an hour AND I can tell you each and every sub story each in it's own very long winded sentence!

Over two weeks ago I ordered a CD from Amazon using their Super Saver Shipping method (order more then $25 and shipping is free - okay it was actually 3 CD's) and it took about 10 days to get. They kept pushing the ship date back, but the shipping was free! I really wanted this CD and if I had felt better I would have gone out and gotten it at the store, but the shipping was free! It finally got here and I LOVE my new CD and I can't believe I waited as long as I did, but the shipping was free! Can't look a gift horse............gift horse my ass!

The CD is The Killers - go to their site, check out the AOL Sessions (Great Music resource I realized) The past few years I have missed bands like this! I have relapsed into country because I can't stand rap/hip hop/bad unintelligible foul poems to a sickeningly repetitive mind numbing beat!

To the point, The Killers are great like a compelling mix of the original (not the newer "hipper" new stuff) U2, Duran Duran, The Cure, and Erasure. I love them!

Oh, is it just me or do those new Lexus GS7 (or something like that - why can't luxury cars have real names instead of secret code numbers?) commercials where you find the start button in almost impossible to get to places like at the bottom of the ocean, locked in a safe Mission Impossible style, or buried in a mountain of ice make it appear virtually impossible to get into a Lexus? I know, it is supposed to make the car look exclusive and all - but seriously, how many of us will scale a mountain or break into a safe just to start our car............

BTW, I am so dizzy I am bordering on sick - kinda like sea sick!

Who I Read...

Okay, time to update the Blogroll - alright, way past time I know!

Let's fact it, my blogroll is just a convenient way for me to have all my regulars in one place! I read these most days and your welcome to do so as well, but really it is all about me here, right? (After all I have been spotty in my postings and comments are so rare - those are about me too I know, but they are BY you! - Yep, begging for comments!)

Anyway, today I added:

Curmudegonly & Skeptical a new discovery for me. He is unique, funny, and gets right to some very good points!

Hog On Ice been reading since I posted on him back in December. His Gay Underpants post is still one of the funniest things I have read in years!

Is This Life is by a guy, TrekMedic251 who is really a medic! He actually found me and I have been reading his site but, um, updating the blogroll, well it is sooooo hard, right, um, .....
He has some great insights!

I removed The Straight Face Test as it hadn't been updated since the end of January.

OMG, I forgot to include Little Green Footballs, not that they need anymore links, but they are really a great source of info!

Easter Trek! Random Ramblings!

Amazingly beautiful Easter here, hope it is where you are as well! - Well, kinda amazing, the beauty outside has released a flurry of pollen or some other allergen that have made me dizzy, itchy, and downright miserable (itchy eczema and all) upon the mere opening of an outside door! None the less it sure looks beautiful!

Amazingly Google, who managed to decorate it's logo for things like world water day, can't seem to bring itself to do the same for Easter! (Malkin) They also stopped listing Captains Quarters blog as a search result but they do manage to advertise for Hamas recruitment though (LGF).
CQ has links to other strange items about Google (like using a NeoNazi website as a news source) and Roger Simon had some problems with them as well!

What if the Bible was warning us against Anarchists and not an AntiChrist? Revelations looks much more prophetic in that light doesn't it? (Ed-of course it does you idiot - it IS the Bible after all.)

Strange how Janus is just anus with a J. How many other words can you think of that have anus at their root?

More on this later (if health allows), but can you name another figure in history that has started a worldwide "pro" movement (pro-democracy) with the result being demonstrations that have far outstripped the "anti" movements (anti war, anti capitalism, anti American, anti Bush) best efforts in numbers, attitude, and cause. The left has become nothing but the "anti" coalition!

More thoughts as they come to me...stay tuned!
DKK

More - oooh, ooohh, ooohhhh, I remembered one more thing - important one too! Remember that Texas law the left is using to call Bush a hypocrite? Well it seems someone in the Corner - Via DANEgerous - recalls what it really was about! Bottom line, it gave the family GREATER power and flexibility in attempting to save their loved ones! The left had already given the authority to the medical ethics board of a hospital! Now I haven't read the law, but it would appear the facts - making the best of a bad situation by giving families more options - once again defeat the left's lame attempts to defame Bush! Go read the history but here is a summary:
That 1999 bill: first, formalized more protections for in-hospital review second, gave patients 10 days of treatment while seeking transfer, and third, authorized court proceedings to extend the 10 days for reasonable additional periods to accomplish transfer. Now this was not what patient advocates wanted and it wasn’t what Governor Bush wanted. However, it was an important advance over the existing situation of no legal requirement of treatment pending transfer, for any period of time. The votes were not there in the Texas legislature to accomplish a more protective bill. So Governor Bush signed it because it was an improvement over the existing law.

A few days ago I wasn't feeling the best and I was watching Cspan and thinking about bloggin on a Washington Post presentation covering foreign policy - well, as I looked I guess I wasn't just thinking about it - I actually posted this rambling on March 22. Could Illinois' Student McGuivers Have Prevented Red Lake?

A week ago Blogger ate a posting I had ready on this story from the Rockford Register Star - It seems that in Oregon, IL (15 min's from my hometown) 3 teens made some homemade "McGuiver" bombs and set them off around their school - while the school was in session!

I didn't have the time or energy to rewrite this, but with all of the info now coming out about the kid in Red Lake, MN I thought it was important to get this out there!

Go to Michelle Malkin and see the grotesque picture, cartoon, blog, and postings done by this loone

The common thread here is that there were clear signs in these cases that you would think this many years after Columbine our society would be aware enough to see!

But I guess not, which is why I am posing this entire Register Star story!

OREGON -- Students throughout Oregon High School heard rumors that bombs were being made, but no one came forward with the information before it was too late, police say.

Three Oregon High School students are in custody today as officials piece together how two homemade bombs exploded midmorning Wednesday outside the school, sending 600 students across the street while police and bomb squads descended on the campus.

No one was hurt and nothing appeared damaged, but investigators found a large pipe bomb in a second-floor storage room and a backpack full of pipes in a locker.

Police said two of the three teens arrested were caught running through the school after the "MacGyver" bombs -- so called because they're made from common household goods, such as cleaning chemicals and plastic liter soda bottles, that the TV character of the same name would have used -- exploded.

Police say the third student explained how to make the bombs.

All three students were held overnight at Mary Davis Detention Home in Galesburg on charges of possessing explosive devices. They will appear before an Ogle County judge today.

At a news conference Wednesday night, police, school and city officials talked about the missed opportunities. Some students, when interviewed by authorities, said they had heard about the bombs but didn't report the information to teachers or others in authority.

(Ed. - are these kids complete idiots?)

"Unfortunately we could have probably avoided this today," Detective Lt. Darin DeHaan said.

Hours after the incident, students and parents were left wondering about a motive. Classes are to resume today as the investigation continues.

"A lot of us think they did it just to get attention," Oregon freshman Tia Kressin said Wednesday afternoon. "This is a small town, and you really never expect that something's actually going to happen."

'All freaking out'

Authorities believe the two bombs were chucked out a window at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday near the school's southwest corner.

The bombs exploded outside, spattering chemicals on the ground. A guidance counselor nabbed two male students as they ran from the scene and held them until police arrived.

An intercom announcement told the nearly 600 students to evacuate the building and head out across Jefferson Street to the nearby Jefferson Elementary School for temporary shelter. Some students were in class. Others were eating lunch.

Junior Jerica Crawford, 16, and senior James Burke, 17, said the explosions sounded like gunshots. Burke was changing clothes after gym class and had to leave the building wearing shorts. He didn't get to eat lunch.

Classes continued for elementary students while high school students were split between the Jefferson and Etnyre School gymnasiums. The high schoolers stayed until about 2 p.m. when they were dismissed for the day.

Students and staff members had to leave their cars, so buses were rerouted to provide rides home. Freshman Kristine Bull, 14, hopped off a bus and bombarded her mom with questions about the incident.

Bull and at least 15 other students had left the school early Wednesday for a student council field trip. She said students received numerous text messages on their cell phones from friends after the explosions.

"We were all freaking out, trying to get a hold of people," she said.

'A scary thing'

School administrators sent explanation letters home with students. Superintendent Todd Prusator praised students and staff for evacuating the high school safely.

Before the explosions, Oregon police had released information about a burglary that occurred at the high school Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. They found signs of forced entry and discovered that cash and other items were taken.

DeHaan did not know whether the break-in and bombs were related.

The Winnebago County Bomb Squad safely detonated the pipe bomb. Police from the state, Rochelle, Dixon, Byron and Northern Illinois University pitched in extra help.

Numerous students said they knew the alleged culprits. One described them as underclassmen, others said one was a Boy Scout and another was a good student.

Parents, like Kathy Bull, listened as their kids recalled details about the incidents.

"My first thought was 'thank goodness she wasn't there,'" Bull said of Kristine. "It's a scary thing the way something like this can happen."

Dawn Reints of Mount Morris sat in her vehicle with Crawford, Burke and her nephew, 8-year-old Steven Howard. She had listened to the radio earlier in the day to learn more about the explosions.

"There's no way not to be scared," she said.

Emphasis added! Scary, our eyes are closed to what the teen across the country are doing! If we learned to be observant enough to catch these little McGuivers we might catch those mass murdering Red Lakers who broadcast their plans to the world like this guy's cartoon!

The Process or The Result

I was watching a Washington Post foreign policy discussion on C-Span tonight and I realized that the left is devoid of any and all

Oh wo is the army - they are streatched to far and couldn't respond to a REAL threat like China or North Korea.

They just don't get it - we are in a serious war!

They don't want an army, but since saying that is political suicide they will settle for having a paper army but never using it!

Because of th corruption the UN makes itself vulnerable to those in the administration and Congress who attack it. What the f@ck - who would ever say that? I would say something like, "they are liars and theifs who should have their jobs "reformed" right back home where they can steal and rape their own people!"

Amusing Four Years - Update I

How Weird Dean;

"brain-dead" Republicans

He bought into the - Democrats are just too smart, nuanced, and reality based - attitude that has pushed them further from the mainstream.
One major reason his party lost the 2004 race to the "brain-dead" Republicans is that it has a "tendency to explain every issue in half an hour of detail,"
But if they are so smart why can't they see the joke that they have become?
DKK

Adding Disgust to Disgusting!

I have had a real difficult time balancing my feelings on the Terri Schivo situation, mainly because I am throughly disgusted!

I am disgusted that this issue has become a national issue! That is just sad and I am amazed that the family has not only let this issue become a media frenzy but have pushed it into this horrific limelight!

I am disgusted that the members of Terri's family don't love and respect each other enough to honor the wishes of the other family members in dealing with this issue. Frankly I think if I were Terri this selfish inability of my family to respect each other's views would disgust me more then weather I had made a passing request about my care. (If Terri felt strongly enough about not being kept alive she should have made her wishes known in writing!)

But I am probably most disgusted that as a society we allow any person already being given water and food to be starved to death! That is just abhorrent and it is unfathomable that we would withhold food and even worse that we would withhold water!

I just am not going to go into my opinions of the rights and responsibilities of the family members, this should have been a family's issue. But wouldn't it just kill you (pun intended) to know that your family didn't love you or respect each other enough to work this out?

But I have to say that as a society if we are as enlightened as would see ourselves why would we starve and dehydrate someone to death? Why don't we treat them as humanely as we treat animals and death row convicts who are medically, "put to sleep," but of course that would be murder - which is exactly what it sounds like when you kill a person who is not considered brain or physically dead.

WizBang says:

Sick Woman? Kill it.

I'll tell you why... to the Democrats, Terry Schiavo is being sacrificed on the alter of abortion.

It's disgusting.

Long Four Years

How Weird Dean hates Republicans and everything they stand for and is in a battle of good against evil and the Republicans are the evil one's.

Most Americans understood this inherent problem with the Democrats - the battle to them is always against Americans and Republicans not, as logic would dictate, terrorists and terrorism.

This is going to be a long, but amusing four years!

Understanding the Honeypot.

Marvin Hutchins takes on those who believe that Iraq has promoted Jihad at his Little Red Blog. I would just add that those opposed to our actions in Iraq fail to understand the Honeypot Doctrine as described in The Art of War. (I wrote about that) The left will never understand that these Jihadis (or is it Jihadists) are already out there - without Iraq they may have waited two years to attack us in Chicago, but without fundamental freedoms and reform in the region they will continue to produce those who find it easier to blame America, the Jews, and the West rather then examine their own culture and society as the cause of all their ills.

By the way, can I just point out that Blogger's spell check doesn't even have Blog as a word, you would think they would add that one wouldn't you?

Screw Stability - Bush to the Weinies

American Future (man I'm loving that place) has a great summary of the President's speech to the Europeans today.

My absolute favorite line from the speech was this:
In the Cold War, Europe saw the so-called stability of Yalta was a constant source of injustice and fear. And Europe also saw how the rise of democratic movements like Solidarity could part an iron curtain drawn by tyrants. The spread of freedom has helped to resolve old disputes, and the enlargement of NATO and the European Union have made partners out of former rivals.

This is what the left and the Europeans (yea, I know no real difference between them - the both hate America) just don't get and is the fundamental difference between the factions.

This was also a direct shot across chancellor Schroeder bow. President Bush's SOTU speech pushed freedom - saying that word 27 times. It was followed by Schroeder speech where freedom wasn't mentioned but stability was the main focus.

I love this guy - as I said in earlier posts - he has upset the apple cart because that cart was clearly broken and was about to tumble down taking the entire free world with it - that it what 9/11 taught us. The old ways didn't work, why keep doing them over and over! Just as he said about his budget cuts, we will not fund or work with systems that do not get results! And his opposition hates it and hates him for it - many got rich off the corrupt stability after all!
DKK

More On Howard (Moore-on Howard?)

During the debate between Howard Dean and Richard Pearl last Thursday Howard admitted what I had said in my earlier post that the Dem's hate what America is but love what it could be if only we had a plan to, "restore America to it's moral greatness."

The left believes that we aren't great - and that is where they are wrong.

Spoils of war, America not only doesn't take any - we set up things like the Marshall plan to give some of our treasure to our former enemies.

Land, don't want any, occupation, don't want to do it - however we will leave bases scattered throughout the world to protect nations and thus allow them to spend their defense budgets on their social welfare all the while verbally attacking us. (Oh, but don't suggest reducing those troop levels or their government will pitch a fit about the impact upon their economy, the great threat to their vaunted welfare state is not terrorists, but the possibility we might pull out our troops! (now I know this is an exageration - and I am the first person who will argue that these bases were for our own protection as much as for theirs.))
DKK

Update: I saw this debate on Cspan, you can check it out there.

In the 6th Year He Made Their Heads Explode!

This is the third time I have tried to write this post - seems my mind fog caused the first to be incoherent, the second was too serious and now this:

Since the first day of his presidency George W. Bush has managed to systematically take every item the Left believe in, the shakey/shifting foundation of their entire existence, and proceed to not only prove them wrong - but to prove that they are morally and intellectually bankrupt.

  • Bush and the Republicans hate blacks/women/hispanics - you know the facts, Bush and the Republicans have appointed more women and minorities to high level positions then any administration in history. People are dealt with based on their qualifications and job performance. Something the left has claimed to hold as a core belief, yet all they could do is attack any minority that supports the administration. OH, and let's not forget the windfall that Social Security Personal Accounts could leave for generations of black families. A legacy forever.
  • Bush and the Republicans hate Gays - oops, you know the Gannon story - gay guy but no one cared, as long as he did his work. Years ago when I reconciled my being gay with my political beliefs I realized that the conservatives I met dealt with me based on what I had done not on what group I was with. This is true of Bush. Now comes the news of his comment from 1998 or so in the tapes from the NY Times (sorry no link, I just can't bring myself to give them the link) it seems President Bush doesn't care and won't fire anyone for being gay - it doesn't matter. What matters is how you do your job! But what do we get from the left - nothing but attacks on the gay journalist - that is all the left can talk about, they are obsessed with the fact that the guy was gay, and amazingly he was allowed to cover the President.
The New Republic says (Thanks American Future):
But he may be the first president who apparently does not see individual people in racial categories or sex categories. White or black, woman or man, just as long as you're a conservative. That is also an expression of liberation from bias.
  • Iraq, oops they had elections.
  • Middle East, President Bush realized that the old status quo of keeping stability and ignoring the tyranny that leads to terrorism had to change. The President ignored Arafat and now things may be moving - and yes, Arafat's death caused most of these changes, but had he not been shut out I bet it wouldn't have worked out as it seems to so far. Left threw a fit!
  • Korea, nope, only 6 party talks. If you cheat it will be on all 6 of us (including China), left threw an absolute fit!
  • The UN, bunch of crooks so why would we consider dealing with them till they clean it up or board it up!
  • European weinies - they are so high and mighty, let them solve the Iran issue and either prove they can do something constructive for the world or prove them to be worthless.
  • Economy, damn another victory. He even broke even on jobs - damn that just isn't possible!
  • Social Security, the left's total hatred for Bush has caused them to ignore their own statements of support for social security reform a mere 6 years ago under a Democratic President!

This is just a short list that strikes at many of the left's core beliefs! I covered some of them during the campaign as the President seemed to cut the knees out from under the left every time they came up with their new winning strategy.

Today's Democratic party is based on denial and massive cognitive Dissonance. This goes clear to their core - claiming they are reality based and progressive are the first examples. They still don't believe that their tired old worn out policies and believes weren't supported by the majority of Americans. Either the election was stolen or those who can actually believe they lost think it was because they just didn't get their message out. Is this reality? They got their message out - it was rejected by the majority of Americans.

AND THEY ARE GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER!

The left says that our foreign policy is the root of all evil, but in the next breath they want us to impose our moral beliefs upon any country that wants to trade with us by forcing those countries to adhere to our environmental and labor standards. That is what Howard Dean said during his debate with Richard Pearl last week. You remember Howard, the leader of the Democratic Party!

The result of these actions will cause moderates to identify themselves as Republicans and the Democrats to become further divided.

When history books are written about this Presidency and how he proved the left's entire belief system to be bankrupt it will be noted that, "having shown once again that he was misunderestimated by the left, his policies were again a success. In the Sixth year he caused such trauma in those on the left, who were already susceptible to illness like PEST (Post Election Selection Trauma), that he made their heads explode - literally explode. A situation now known as BURST (Bush Ultimately Right Sixth (year) Trauma) , a situation that develops when the cognitive dissonance affects every single belief a person holds causing their brains to boil and their heads to explode.
DKK

Extra: Wizbang has this great story on a NY Congressman suffering the final phases of BURST! Here and here.
DKK

Update: J from Wizbang points out
While I like the easily-pronounced "BURST," I think I prefer BDS -- Bush Derangement Syndrome. It's simpler and more elegant.

Otherwise, a fine rant. It catches the condition quite nicely.

J.
(Jay Tea of www.wizbangblog.com)

I would agree that BURST and BDS are different stages of the same illness, but BURST will appear to be fatal (as most head exploding illnesses are). In many cases BDS isn't fatal, but for those with the BURST derivative it will be, at least for their party!

By the way, thanks to Jay for taking the time to read and comment - it means alot!

TongueTied, What Happened?

Not sure why they choose to jump, but the did - I have removed their link from the blogroll.
DKK

As a regular reader of TongueTied and a sometimes blogger I understand the pressure of regular blogging and know you had searched for someone to assist you in your efforts. (I found you via Fox News and loved your site.)

However I had no idea your intention was to leave behind your format and stated mission, "Carping about the excesses of clueless crybabies since the turn of the century," and become one of the cry-babies!

Weather you know it or not that is what the blog has become.

It no longer points out the amazingly idiotic statements and overly PC issues the "crybabies" harped about, but became the one harping on about these same issues.

Take Libby's recent post on the elections - despite the media's admission to their errors in their exit polls her link points to a site that harps on about exit polls being accurate. While she suggests that there was Republican voter fraud she fails to mention the voter fraud by Democrats "suggested" - and in one case actually being prosecuted - by the evidence in Wisconsin, Washington, and elsewhere.

This is just the most recent example.

I am open to different ideas, but not the moonbat ideas that your site used to point out on a daily basis.

I will be removing you from my blogroll and recommending my readers do the same. In addition I would ask that you update your mission statement - something more along the lines of, "Kos wannabe?"

Thank you,
David

The Left's Moral Mistake

Their motives are transparently for political gain but they are so far off the mark I can't even come up with an appropriate metaphor .......

Following the release of the President's proposed budget early this week Harry Reid came trotting out with his reply. It struck probably the most sour political note I had heard since the election, but it has gotten relatively little coverage in the press or online.

Reid's reply went something like this - If you believe this is a moral issue, as we do, you can only conclude that this budget is immoral! Obviously this is a paraphrase - I can't find the quote online in a quick search, but this is real close.

I see how this is going to go - the Democrats think that by repeating over and over that they have morals America will somehow forget that they produced the man who managed to convince an entire generation of teenagers that oral sex isn't actually sex - despite it actually being called oral SEX (Lewinsky is just the nickname thanks Bill)!

What they don't understand is that just talking about morals isn't enough. America sees the choices the left makes, and that is what morals really are - the choices we all make between right and wrong - and they see the left making the wrong choices. Attacking everything American isn't the moral choice, despite your protestations that freedom of speech is the first freedom and is the true patriotic action (a reference to the ACLU website's incorrectly forgetting religion before they were forced to correct).

America got sick of the left's inability to actually judge something wrong (except America itself and Republicans) or their amazing ability to argue a moral equivalence between terrorists and everyday American's!

The right believes that the American way is the moral way - and the left just doesn't get that! In November America told the left what they thought of them, at the time I wrote this:
...even deeper then that is the pure and simple moral fact that you don't attack a sitting war time president as a liar and thief!

The moral bankruptcy was highlighted by CBS and it's Rathergate fiasco. The comments I made about Moveon and Moore-on and Senator Kerry's attacks on our troops in battle were reflected in the "morals" vote!

When your a Senator you don't obstruct - you take action not fostering inaction! When your a judge you don't legislate from the bench!

Don't get me wrong, the religious right was a key to victory. Anti gay marriage was important but when it comes down to it the morals issue was more a result of the belief - which we saw in Australia just last month - that it is IMMORAL TO ATTACK YOUR OWN COUNTRY! The American belief that the pledge of allegiance is a good thing and there is right and wrong, black and white! America is what is good in the world and since his days as an activist Kerry has been wrong on these key issues!

Was morals another word for American values and patriotism - I think so!

In the short time since the election the left has managed to cocoon themselves to the point of believing that they lost because America just didn't understand that they have morals - just not the old fashioned don't lie, don't murder, don't screw around on your spouse, but that even issues like wishing for our defeat in the war on terror and their right to determine the appropriate use of federal spending are moral issues. But using my taxes to fund a cross dipped in urine is really immoral - but that isn't quite how the left sees it! What they mean is that letting you keep your own money goes against their morals.

With the pending election of Howard Dean as the leader of the DNC this weekend they will have completed the cocoon, one can only hope that what emerges from this cocoon is viable, but I wouldn't' t bet on it at this point. Theirs is the party that will do anything in an attempt to regain power with no regard for their past statements or actual personal beliefs - which is why they appear to flip faster then a pre-Nader Corvair and in so doing they are sinking faster then Teddy's Olds!
DKK

PS - As if to prove my point we get the Democratic Mayor of Baltimore claiming that the President's budget is an attack on cities just like 911 was an attack on cities.

Update: Michelle Malkin has a post on the great Mayor (Martin O'Mally) and his history of amazing attacks on Republicans using 9/11. Great round up of blog reactions too! BTW, she has been hitting the Eason Jordan/CNN Davos story hard and making great progress!

Progressive Reality - Suicidal Dreams

Lets face it, the Democrats hate anyone being labeled, unless it is a Republican they can call a liar!

They hate it so much they continue to try to eliminate the term Liberal from the political language.

They now refer to themselves as progressive and reality based!

Honestly, the Democrats haven't had a progressive - favoring or promoting reform (often by government action) - thought since the anti-war left took over the party in 1968. It isn't progressive to demand the same old broken systems remain in place. It isn't progressive to recycle the same old anti-war arguments over and over again. Progressive is attempting to fix or eliminate broken systems, advancing the lives and rights of Americans through ownership, and supporting freedom around the world. Hardly sounds like today's Democrats does it!

As for the other - well, their reality is anything that blames America first. They ignore any good news and claim that they by only accepting the bad news they are reality based. This type of reality is the same brand that causes the chronically depressed to commit suicide, hmmmm, maybe that explains how they feel about the US and what they really have in mind!

Random Trek - Low Energy Version

  • Isn't it interesting that in the 60 we were called racist if we weren't color blind in all of our dealings but today we are considered racist if we are color blind and don't recognize the differences that are now known as, "multicultural."
  • For 40 years it has been pounded into us that we needed to deny biology, "there is no difference between the sexes," we were told by the feminists! Now there is serious backlash against those elite in the media and academia who are realizing what the average Joe has known all along. (Now now, I'm not saying people should be treated differently, just that to deny differences in all of us, either nature or nurture, is unrealistic!)
  • We are not losing in Iraq or anywhere else in the war on terror! It isn't a failure in any shape or form! It is a challenge, but what worth achieving isn't challenging? As a matter of fact, those who would deny reality couldn't even bring about a political loss for the President - no matter how hard they tried - and boy did they try! Teddy Kennedy's foolish comparison to Vietnam is denying history!
  • Anyone who demands an exit strategy from Iraq should be ignored as completely ignorant of the world! There is a victory strategy (oh sure, someone in the Pentagon has a retreat plan in the event it is necessary) but not an exit strategy! Now if wanted to discus an exit strategy from Germany 60 years after the war that brought us there and 16 years after the security threat and the wall that symbolized that threat fell then I would consider trusting them to take national security seriously!
  • It is my belief that President Bush will once again prove the nay sayers wrong about, well, everything they are harping on now! I would be surprised if he didn't hold or even increase his party's majority in Congress! I think there will be a successful end to the Iraqi campaign and this will give us a greater flexibility in the War on Terror. Social Security, Taxes, tort reform could all become key victories that will provide benefits to all Americans for generations!
That is enough for now, as of late this bloggin, to quote the President's memorable debate line, "is hard!" At least to fit in - energy levels have been below extremely low! Not sure how to get it to pick up but I'll post when I can.

Coordinated Attack?

Okay, first off please note the question mark at the end of that title and take this as thinking aloud!

Now, here is an interesting theory-

The buzz is that Hillary Clinton has been showing her moderate face (which by the way I don't believe for a minute! I'll believe that she wants abortion rare when she backs any of the common sense restrictions like the partial birth ban or parental notification - these are two common sense, proposals with overwhelming support across mainstream America)

At the same time the same old worn out rhetoric from the Democratic Party has done nothing close to moderating and in fact has increased in volume. It's like they have been asleep for the past three years!

What if this is a coordinated attack - frankly, after 4 years of hearing the shrill false attacks brought on by Barbara Boxer, Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Blows-me, oops I mean Pelosi, and even the normally reasonable sounding Harry Reid I think Hillary will look like Pat Buchanan to the vast majority of Americans!

Even I would consider her a Godsend to the political process after the barrage they appear to be ready to unleash!

I know, it could mean self destruction for the party nationally, but they are already on the brink! Iit is more likely she is moving and they really believe they just didn't get their message out LOUDLY enough last year, but if true it would be one of the most brilliant political moves I had ever heard of!
DKK

More: The Powerline guys wonder if this is some type of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) plan by the Dem's.

It's hard to say what the Democrats' strategy is. They appear bent on self-destruction, but they evidently hope to take the Republicans down with them. The positions they take are so indefensible, so charged with racism, and above all, so downright silly, that they can only reflect an astonishingly low assessment of the American electorate. Time will tell whether their strategy of mutual assured destruction will work, but for now, count me as a skeptic.

DEACON adds: I'm a skeptic too. In one sense, our politics is a zero sum game, so it's hard for one party to take the opposition down with it. Maybe at some level, the Democrats realize how far outside the mainstream they have drifted, and think that their only hope is to demonize the Bush administration even when it means attacking attractive members like Rice. But, at best, this strategy might prevent the Republicans from routing the Democrats -- it's certainly not a path back to power. My view is that most Democrats just aren't capable of clear, rational thought at the moment.

Interesting..........maybe I'm on to something?

Retrospective Trek

Today James Carville asked which part of the Clinton Presidency the Republicans didn't like - Peace or Prosperity.

Bush's win in November shows that Americans realized that Clinton's Peace and Prosperity were nothing but illusions, or more accurately delusions caused by sweeping problems under the rug! Iraq, terrorism, stock market bubble, social security, medicare, and on and on and on - these problems were all, as President Bush says, kicked down the road and not addressed.

Now we are handling them and the Adults in America understand this, giving President Bush a second term. Unfortunately Democrats just don't get it.
DKK

Two quick treks

First of all I am really amazed that those on the left, particularily in the Left wing media don't get it.....We are sick of their constant attacks on the US and our President - that is a lesson they should have taken from the election, but they just don't get it! They intend to pound the President into the ground or destroy the nation trying, damn it!

Second, Star Parker has taken and expanded my point on Social Security in an excellent essay where she asks, "What's the Congressional Black Causus Thinking?"

I noted these same points a couple of weeks ago when I said:
Social Security Reform - Imagine the wealth creation that would occur in just 3 generations when the left over funds are passed on to the account owner's beneficiary! This would be a windfall to our grandchildren! Particularly to blacks and a huge bonus to Gay Partners. Imagine the benefits to charities! Want to pass this reform - get these people to see these benefits and they will get it passed!

Under the current system the system itself sucks up all unpaid benefits upon death, something inherrently unfair to all, but more so to black men who still have the shortest life expectancy in the US!

Daily Trek 123104 - A Year

And what a year it was! I am not going to do a look back on 2004, so many things happened it wouldn't be possible to hit all the highlights.

All I will do is wish you all the best for the year ahead and ask that if you haven't donated funds to help those affected by the deadly Tsunami please do so now, over 140,000 - ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND - people dead so far!

The stingy Americans have already donated over $200,000,000 ($200 million) in total contributions and will continue to do so because we are the most generous nation that has ever existed.

Happy New Year - may the blessings of the year ahead light all your lives.
DKK

Amazon's Red Cross Donations Here
- $7 million as of Midnight 12/31/2005

Update - the US Government has increased it's commitment tenfold to $350 Million. Stingy, Americans!

Daily Trek 122904 - UN believable

The devastating tsunami in the Indian Ocean is unbelievable. Wizbang has a rundown of posts here.

If you haven't given yet Amazon is collecting donations here - thanks Instapundit - almost a million dollars as of 1:44 12/29/04 (what, we're supposed to be stingy!)

Now we know what kind of mind set it takes to work in that sinkhole known as the United Nations! What kind of thought process does it take to honestly believe that charity is required and that the most generous nation in the world is stingy? That is screwed up!

unfortunately that is what the anti-American left around the world believe. Amazingly they forget this:

"In short," researchers Alexander Karp, Gary A. Tobin and Aryeh Weinberg write in the journal Philanthropy, "American philanthropy is extraordinary by any world standard and the reason is that America herself is exceptional." (4rww)

Or perhaps we should take a real look at how the bureaucratic system Mr. Egeland loves, Prestopundit has this post - so striking I am posting the entire thing.
IN ONE YEAR private citizens in Americans sent $35.8 billion overseas to help out non-Americans. The year used for those figures was 1998. The numbers today would be far higher.

Meanwhile, most foreign assistance from Norway -- the home of U.N. bureaucrat Jan Egeland -- comes not from private citizens, but from the government. An inefficient and wasteful government bureaucracy in fact:

The Norwegian Department of Foreign Aid is under heavy criticism from state auditors for gross misspending of aid money. Funds are wasted on pointless projects and expensive consultants, and there are few routines for retrospective self-evaluation and verification that the money has gone where it was supposed to go, that it actually did any good ..
More on Egeland here.

If you'd like to think or write intelligently about foreign aid, it's non-optional to have read some Peter Bauer, winner of the Friedman Prize.

Speaking of the American haters and their Pundidiots they are always harping that the President doesn't, "admit his mistakes," - don't we have to have reached the point where the an accurate determination can be made as to weather a mistake was actually made?

Just a thought - like I have said before I think the President has so much more info on the things these Pundidiots love to harp on that he can make these determinations.

Speaking of which, the "Bush Honeypot Doctrine" analysis is right on point - and is something the dem's and many Pundidiots just can't seem to understand! (Thanks 4rww)

Okay, the funniest writing I have seen anywhere in a long time is at the Hog on Ice blog - go here for his Gay Underpants post and see if you don't agree!

BTW, did you know that Blogger spellcheck suggests breastfeeding for Prestopundit?
