That is absolutely unbelievable! Outrageous - No, not that fact that Cheney got the shot. After all he is in the line of succession to the Presidency AND having heart disease he is considered high risk and SHOULD get the shot! They also slammed Majority Leader Frist and John Snow. Frist is a practicing physician - donating his time on weekends to work at free clinics in DC and John Snow is 65 years old. These people are exactly who is supposed to get the shots!
The problem with the flu shot is two fold - first the liability exposure it immense from both the trial lawyers and the business itself. After all just 3 years ago they only sold about half of the total they manufactured taking a financial bath in the process! The second problem is that the government sets the price by purchasing 65% of the vaccines at a fixed price! The profit is virtually squeezed out of the system entirely and so are the companies that manufacture the vaccine! Today just two companies are in the business - 30 years ago there were over 20!
The government vaccine program was the first step in Hillary care passed in 1993. Thank you Hillary Clinton!
The worst part of the entire episode is that it clearly shows that, once again, the Kerry campaign completely misunderstands national security! Imagine for a minute that the President has a really debilitating case of the flu. Wouldn't Kerry want someone there who wasn't sick in the event of another 9/11? But of course to the Kerry campaign that doesn't matter if they can win! Defeat the US is their motto!
This attack by Kerry is beyond the pale and should be criticized by every analyst on both sides!
Now, if the President wanted to surprise the world and make a mark in the last days of the campaign he would do a new ad along these lines to be aired the last 2 days:
Opening scene - negative Kerry attack headline such as the flu slam, Ter.....Mrs. Kerry's attack on Laura Bush, the attack on Mary Cheney, and the Moore-on Lie-N-Hypers charges.
President - I am GWB and I approved this ad and I am asking you for your vote on November 2. Our nation is the beacon of freedom and prosperity in the world - every action I have taken has enhanced that beacon and has made us safer and set the world on the path that will foster the environment that will repudiate terrorism as the evil that it is! The corrupt and feeble methods of the last century have been exposed as failures. However change is uncomfortable to those who were set in their pre 9/11 world. They flail out and produce attacks such as those we've seen in this campaign. But change and action was not an option following that devastating day! Knowing this I again ask for your vote on November 2, 2004.

OH, it seems the Kerry campaign forgot this about the Cheney flu shot issue (Newsmax):
But apparently team Kerry didn't notice on Monday when Hillary Clinton announced that her heart patient hubby Bill also received a flu shot, during an address about the vaccine shortage at a New York City health center.
I mentioned Ter....Mrs. Kerry (still can't figure out how to spell her name the way it is pronounced!) earlier well here were her comments:
"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry said. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job — I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things."
Heinz Kerry said she sees her age as a benefit — she is 66 and Bush 57. "I'm older, and my validation of what I do is a little bit bigger — because I'm older, and I've had different experiences. And it's not a criticism of her. It's just, you know, what life is about," she said.
Now, this is the most arrogant combination since Louis and Marie - let them eat cake! Mrs. Bush was a school teacher and librarian for over 9 years before she became a mother, which in itself is hard enough work. Kerry did apologize but she failed to recognize the homemakers contribution to our nation in her apology!
"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children. As someone who has been both a full time mom and full time in workforce, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as First Lady, and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."
BTW, what did Ter...Mrs. Kerry do before she became a wealth heiress.............worked at the UN! Let's ask the mothers of the Sudan how supportive the UN is of their right to raise their children without being slaughtered!
Oh, and don't forget about that comment by Kerry - It's okay for our soldiers to die for the UN but it is wrong if they die for the United States!
