Next Arlington Cemetary!

World Net Daily (WND)

Vet sues to save mountaintop cross
Association made compromise with ACLU to remove it
The cross was erected in 1954 and today honors veterans of World War I and II and the Korean War.

"The long and complicated struggle to remove the cross now involves hundreds of donors and owners of plaques purchased to honor our nation's veterans," said Charles S. LiMandri, West Coast regional director of the Law Center.

"These individuals were promised that the cross would stay as a part of the memorial atop Mt. Soledad," he continued. "It is a sad day when we are faced with the prospect of withholding a promise made to those who wish to honor our nation's veterans, and instead surrender to the demands of a hypersensitive atheist who is set on destroying one of San Diego's most treasured landmarks."

Once this piece of history is destroyed is it a far cry to think our National Cemetaries are next? DKK

What Did He Say? Better Red Then In the Economy

I think I heard this correct:

C-Span - Congressman Neal (D) preaching to Alan Greenspan defined the Bush Tax Cuts as "removing 2.3 Trillion Dollars from the economy," right before he called Greenspan Your Excellency!

1) What an arrogant ass
2) What a fool

When did the Federal Government become "the economy?"

When you combine this with what Hillary said earlier about taking and redistributing our money for the better good it sure sounds like a socialist/communist model to me - in case anyone had any doubts that the Democrats true colors were actually RED! This is what a Kerry Presidency holds - and they don't even try to hide it anymore.

FINALLY A Plan That Makes Sense

No, not from John Kerry - Finally a plan to do something to fix the Illinois Tollways and make them user friendly! You think Moses was good parting the sea? Try getting 8 or 10 toll lanes back into 2 highway lanes - that would be a miracle!
Register Star:When Bob Stephenson heads from Rockford to Chicago and back for his job each day, the state logs his exact whereabouts eight times -- four tolls on the way to Chicago, four on the way back.

Like thousands who routinely drive through northeastern Illinois, Stephenson uses an I-PASS transponder to pay tolls. As Stephenson passes through each plaza, tolls are automatically charged to his account. He doesn't have to throw change in the basket.

Stephenson's commute would be even smoother under Gov. Rod Blagojevich's $5.3 billion plan to improve the state's tollway system: I-PASS users like Stephenson would pass through arched checkpoints rather than chugging through congested toll plazas. Those paying cash would be routed to the side of the highway to pay the fare, twice as much as today's rates, at a booth.

The idea is to get more motorists using I-PASS. And the same time that Stephenson is enjoying the convenience of I-PASS.

Media Declares War on......Bush

Okay, so the media (and you know I mean the Old MSM) won't check the facts related to the Swifties, won't call the terrorists what they are - terrorists, calls a security fence a wall but they have now decided that after 4 years as President it is time to revisit the Bush National Guard Record!

From Drudge:
BIG MEDIA DECLARES: BUSH NATIONAL GUARD DAY

BOSTON GLOBE: BUSH DIDN'T MEET GUARD COMMITMENTS...

AP: MORE BUSH NATIONAL GUARD PAPERS FOUND...

CBSNEWS DAN RATHER INTERVIEWS BARNES...

I want to repeat what I have said before - this is old news related to Bush.

Kerry is applying for the job - Bush isn't!

Most importantly they are on the wrong story - it wasn't what Kerry did in Vietnam or what Bush did in the Guard - it is the treasonous activity Kerry participated in when he returned.

Unfortunately the death toll in Iraq has topped 1000!

But the Democrats have built a toe hold on this magic number!

Okay, I am getting dizzy from trying to keep up with Kerry's policy on Iraq! And Bill Kristol points out that he attacked this new stand when it was Howard Dean's :
"those who doubted whether Iraq or the world would be better off without Saddam Hussein, and those who believe today that we are not safer with his capture, don't have the judgment to be president or the credibility to be elected president."

14 Dead and 15 Billion cost - thanks Frances!

OOPS - looks like the nuance failed again! (HT - S&A)
Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi has bluntly rejected a nuclear disarmament plan floated by US vice presidential hopeful John Edwards, calling it "campaigning."

Senator Edwards told the WPost that the proposal would represent a "great bargain" for Iran -- and that should Iran reject it, a Kerry administration would be forced to conclude that Iran actually was, as the Bush administration now contends, actively pursuing the weaponisation of nuclear materials.

"If we are engaging with Iranians in an effort to reach this great bargain and if in fact this is a bluff that they are trying to develop nuclear weapons capability, then we know that our European friends will stand with us," Senator Edwards told the Washington Post.

More From Hugh Hewitt:
At the risk of exhausting your reading patience this morning, I think we also have to start thinking about the effect of Kerry's campaign on the Senate races. Kerry combines with Michael Moore to alert the national electorate to the fact that the Democrats are not serious about national security. Three names immediately leap out as ideological clones of Kerry: Daschle in South Dakota, Murray in Washington State, and Boxer in California. Now the states of Washington and California are center-left states to be sure, but they are even more vulnerable states with long coastlines, borders, and harbors. It is only a matter of time until the war hits the west coast. Murray famously announced that Osama was beloved because he built roads and schools, and Boxer called the Madrid bombings a "rail accident." Boxer's misstatement was just her famous denseness showing through again, but both of these lightweights need retiring if the war is going to get serious oversight in the Senate. And Daschle needs to go as a message that obstructionism will not work in this era. In short, the next 60 days should be a debate about the war and little else. In every Senate and House race and certainly in the contest for the presidency.

Hmmm, seems the Bush records are all out there but conveniently the press has failed to put them all together into a comlete picture - well here they are. Oh, BTW, they failed to even check for Kerry's full records but somehow have figured out that the Swifties have been discredited - how does that work again? Oh yea, Media Contridictions!

4RWW have a great analysis of the world's handling of Sudan, read it, here is how it ends:
The only UN peacekeepers worth a damn were the ones from the Anglosphere - America, Australia, and Britan (with Poland recently rejoining the ranks of the competant). The Dutch? Hiding in their compound while civilians get murdered. Everywhere the UN has put troops from other countries than the big four, murder, rape, child prostitution, and corruption has followed. The UN without the USA is worse than nothing, it's an impediment to peace worldwide.

If you want to get a taste of the world without the USA, look at Sudan. If you want to get a taste of Democrat Party policy, look at Sudan. If you want to get a feel for UN control, look at Sudan. What Did He Say? Confused People Like Me!

From The Kerry Spot at NRO - You just can't make this stuff up!

DO I HEAR KERRY PRESS AIDES BANGING THEIR HEADS AGAINST THE WALL? [09/07 03:52 PM]

It's moments like this that I really pity the nice men and women working in Kerry's campaign. They put enormous effort into convincing the press and the public that their man isn't indecisive, isn't a waffler, isn't incapable of making the quick, tough decision, and then...

Mr. Kerry stepped boldly into the verbal minefield early, arriving at a front-porch session with supporters in Canonsburg, Pa., near Pittsburgh. As he likes to do, he brandished a bit of local color to show he wasn't just any interloping politician blowing through town.

But in so doing he seemed to forget that Republicans have been tearing him down for months as a vacillating, indecisive, finger-in-the-wind politician of the worst order.

"Everybody told me, 'God, if you're coming to Canonsburg, you've got to find time to go to Toy's, and he'll take care of you,'" Mr. Kerry said, dropping the name of a restaurant his motorcade had passed on the way in. "I understand it's my kind of place, because you don't have to - you know, when they give you the menu, I'm always struggling: Ah, what do you want?

"He just gives you what he's got, right?" Mr. Kerry added, continuing steadily off a gangplank of his own making: "And you don't have to worry, it's whatever he's cooked up that day. And I think that's the way it ought to work, for confused people like me who can't make up our minds."

"Confused people like me who can't make up our minds." If Karl Rove had the mind-control ray that his enemies keep accusing him of having, could he have come up with a worse phrase for Kerry to use? Heck, maybe Rove really does have one of those things.

Alright with all this revisiting of Vietnam and the protests it brings to mind the question of what kind of parents the Fonda's were. Now I don't know and I do admire Henry Fonda's acting skill - but I have to wonder what upbringing would lead to a Hanoi Jane.

Mark Steyn: No other word for it but slaughter

PHOTOGRAPHED from above, the body bags look empty. They seem to lie flat on the ground, and it's only when you peer closer that you realise that that's because the bodies in them are too small to fill the length of the bags. They're children. Row upon row of dead children, more than a hundred of them, 150, more, many of them shot in the back as they tried to flee.

Flee from whom? Let's take three representative responses: "Guerillas", said The New York Times. "Chechen separatists", ventured the BBC, eventually settling for "hostage-takers". "Insurgents", said The Guardian's Isabel Hilton, hyper-rational to a fault: "Today's hostage-taking," she explained, "is more savage, born of the spread of asymmetrical warfare that pits small, weak and irregular forces against powerful military machines. No insurgent lives long if he fights such overwhelming force directly . . . If insurgent bullets cannot penetrate military armour, it makes little sense to shoot in that direction. Soft targets – the unprotected, the innocent, the uninvolved – become targets because they are available."

And then there was Adam Nicolson in London's Daily Telegraph, who filed one of those ornately anguished columns full of elevated, overwritten allusions – each child was "a Pieta, the archetype of pity. Each is a Cordelia carried on at the end of Act V" – and yet in a thousand words he's too busy honing his limpid imagery to confront the fact that this foul deed had perpetrators, never mind the identity of those perpetrators.

Sorry, it won't do. I remember a couple of days after September 11 writing in some column or other that weepy candlelight vigils were a cop-out: the issue wasn't whether you were sad about the dead people but whether you wanted to do something about it. Three years on, that's still the difference. We can all get upset about dead children, but unless you're giving honest thought to what was responsible for the slaughter your tasteful elegies are no use. Nor are the hyper-rationalist theories about "asymmetrical warfare".

For one thing, Hilton is wrong: insurgent bullets can "penetrate military armour". A rabble with a few AKs and a couple of RPGs have managed to pick off a thousand men from the world's most powerful military machine and prompt 75 per cent of Hilton's colleagues in the Western media to declare Iraq a quagmire.

When your asymmetrical warfare strategy depends on gunning down schoolchildren, you're getting way more asymmetrical than you need to be. The reality is that the IRA and ETA and the ANC and any number of secessionist and nationalist movements all the way back to the American revolutionaries could have seized schoolhouses and shot all the children.

But they didn't. Because, if they had, there would have been widespread revulsion within the perpetrators' own communities. To put it at its most tactful, that doesn't seem to be an issue here.

So the particular character of this "insurgency" does not derive from the requirements of "asymmetrical warfare" but from . . . well, let's see, what was the word missing from those three analyses of the Beslan massacre? Here's a clue: half the dead "Chechen separatists" were not Chechens at all, but Arabs. And yet, tastefully tiptoeing round the subject, The New York Times couldn't bring itself to use the words Muslim or Islamist, for fear presumably of offending multicultural sensibilities.

In the 1990s, while the world's leaders slept – or in Bill Clinton's case slept around – thousands of volunteers from across the globe passed through terrorist training camps in Afghanistan and were then dispatched to Indonesia, Kosovo, Sudan . . . and Chechnya. Wealthy Saudis – including members of the royal family – invested millions in setting up mosques and madrassas in what were traditionally spheres of a more accommodationist Islam, from the Balkans to South Asia, and successfully radicalised a generation of young Muslim men. It's the jihadist component – not the asymmetrical one, not the secessionist one – that accounts for the mound of undersized corpses, for the scale of the depravity.

If the Russian children are innocent, the Russian state is not. Its ham-fisted campaign in Chechnya is as brutal as it is ineffectual. The Muslims have a better case in Chechnya than they do in the West Bank, Kashmir or any of the other troublespots where the Islamic world rubs up against the infidels. But that said, as elsewhere, whatever the theoretical merits of the cause, it's been rotted from within by the Islamist psychosis.

I wonder if, as they killed those schoolchildren, they chanted "Allahu Akbar!" – as they did when they hacked the head of Nick Berg, and killed those 12 Nepalese workers, and blew up those Israeli diners in the Passover massacre.

The good news is that the carnage in Beslan was so shocking it prompted a brief appearance by that rare bird, the moderate Muslim. Abdulrahman al-Rashed, the general manager of al-Arabiya Television, wrote a column in Asharq al-Awsat headlined, "The Painful Truth: All The World's Terrorists Are Muslims!" "Our terrorist sons are an end-product of our corrupted culture," he wrote. This is true. But, as with Nicolson's prettified prose in London, the question remains: So what? What are you going to do about it? If you want your religion to be more than a diseased death cult, you're going to have to take a stand.

What happened in one Russian schoolhouse is an abomination that has to be defeated, not merely regretted. But the only guys with any kind of plan are the Bush administration. Last Thursday, the President committed himself yet again to wholesale reform of the Muslim world. This is a dysfunctional region that exports its toxins, to Beslan, Bali and beyond, and is wealthy enough to be able to continue doing so.

You can't turn Saudi Arabia and Yemen into New Hampshire or Sweden (according to taste), but if you could transform them into Singapore or Papua New Guinea or Belize or just about anything else you'd be making an immense improvement. It's a long shot, but, unlike Putin's plan to bomb them Islamists into submission or Chirac's reflexive inclination to buy them off, Bush is at least tackling the "root cause".

If you've got a better idea, let's hear it. Right now, his is the only plan on the table. The ideology and rationale that drove the child-killers in Beslan is the same as that motivating cells in Rome and Manchester and Seattle and Sydney. In this war, you can't hold the line against the next depravity.

Mark Steyn is a columnist for Britain's Telegraph Group and the Chicago Sun-Times.

Happy Labor Day!

Michelle Malkin has this
An outrageous Jihadi kiddie show that brainwashed Muslim youths about the glories of "martyrdom" is airing again on Palestinian Authority TV. The clip was yanked after a U.S. Senate hearing last year exposed the despicable broadcast. (The PA has received some $1.2 billion in State Department funding/foreign aid from the U.S. over the past decade.) View the chilling video here.
Go read the whole post - it is amazing and will make your blood boil! This one is important you have to understand what we face!

Did you realize the extent of the Terrorist activities in Russia last week:Three terror attacks in Russia over the past twelve days have claimed almost 500 lives and left nearly 700 injured. The bombing of two passenger jets on August 24 killed ninety. The August 31 suicide bombing outside a Moscow subway station killed 10 and injured 50. At this writing the toll in Beslan stands at 350 dead, 600 injured and 250 missing. (Alphabet City)

Implosion 101 Finding An Adult!

Hugh Hewitt :

The Washington Post reports that there is yet another Kerry campaign shakeup:

"'We need someone on the plane who has a relationship with him and is an adult,' said a senior campaign official, who asked for anonymity to talk more freely about strategy. 'You need heavier fire power here. There is no room for error in days to come, and this takes the pressure off of headquarters.'"

He also points out this:

The Kerry campaign's meltdown is less important than Russia's response to the gathering storm of terrorism within its borders and directed at its people. Putin's options are limited, for the reasons detailed by The Belmont Club. One trend seems almost certain, though, which is increasing cooperation between Russia and the United States in the suppression of Islamism in its most radical forms. The French may try appeasement, but appeasement doesn't seem to be an option for the remaining superpower and the one most recently in that position.

The choice in the U.S. election is between resolve and retreat, and Putin cannot retreat without the dismemberment of his country. The 100 Years War began in 1333 and lasted until 1453. How many of those living in 1336 thought the conflict was close to its end? In the United States, the sufferers of Moore's Disease evidence the irrational belief that America can walk away. We can't, which is why Bush will win handily.

They Must March Against - Not For!

4RWW
When Alan began to cry from hunger, Dzandarova was allowed to join several other mothers in an adjacent room, which had its own water and was several degrees cooler.

After a former local political leader visited the school Thursday, the women in the adjacent room were told there was "good news": They would be released.

"They said, 'Pack your things quickly, and take your babies with you,' " Dzandarova said.

Shortly after, she learned that she would have to choose between taking her son or her daughter.

Dzandarova had both Alan and Alana with her and made a snap decision to pass Alana to her 16-year-old sister-in-law. But the guerrillas saw through the ruse and refused to allow her to take the older child.

"Alana was clinging to me and holding my hand firmly. But they separated us, and said: 'You go with the boy. Your sister can stay here with her.' I cried. I begged them. Alana cried. The women around us wept. One of the Chechens said: 'If you don't go now, you don't go at all. You stay here with your children … and we will shoot all of you.' "

She couldn't save both of them. She could only die with both of them — or save one of them and herself.

"I didn't have time to think what I was doing," she said. "I pressed Alan even stronger to myself, and I went out, and I heard all the time how my daughter was crying and calling for me behind my back. I thought my heart would break into pieces there and then."
You read this and wonder where that outcry is. As a student of History I am telling you that just as the French thought they would be immune by opposing the US at every turn the Muslim community in America and around the world is running a huge risk by not coming out and demonstrating against this bastardization of their culture - and I mean MARCHING IN THE STREETS AGAINST THIS TYPE OF INHUMAN BEHAVIOR! When the backlash happens, I don't know when that will be, one more school, one more bus, one more pregnant mother and her children murdered, it will not be pretty and the screams of racism will fall on a deaf planet!

Gitmo, Abu Grahib, and the internment in WWII of some Japanese will appear tame compared to what will happen when the world reaches it's breaking point.

Wizbang - excellent analysis Inside the minds of John Kerry and John Edwards - points out the differences between attorneys and business men - and why we need businessmen now! I have been saying this for years!

Now for the good news - what - Europe is reaching Crisis Point.
It could all turn ugly; an unratified European Constitution, stagnating economies, new dark nationalist politics and a fragmenting European Union. The proximate cause of both France and Germany's political crisis is that they are not generating enough jobs and growth even though both are high productivity economies.
Too bad they still don't really get it! Another warning of bad things to come from the EU - they have already demonistrated a propensity to blame everyone else for their economic and moral failings (Remember WWII!) Will we be who they blame or will they turn against each other?

Bingo

Armies of liberation explains the Russian tragety - go read the rest! (HT - 4 Right Wing Wackos)

The years of overt legitimization of Palestinian and other terrorism has eroded the civilian status of every human. The road from the point blank shooting of a pregnant Israeli mother and her two little children in the name of dead Palestinians leads directly to the bombing of homes in Riyadh when some Salafists find the Saudi regime not in compliance with their version of Islam.

The seizure of a school full of children was not a far step down from the gleeful immolation of four contract workers in Iraq. Jihadiis define all Americans as legitimate targets and do not lament any Iraqi children within the bomb radius. In England, Sheikh Yousef Al-Qardhawi, head of the International Council of Muslim Clerics published a new fatwa declaring: it is an obligation incumbent on the Muslims to kill American citizens in Iraq…it is forbidden however to desecrate their corpses.

The path to School Number One runs through Spain and the Philippines and the appeasement of terrorists. It runs through the Sudan where hundreds of thousands of children may die in an accommodation to the sovereignty of a brutal Islamic regime. It runs daily through Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and India, in smaller but no less brutal acts of jihad.

The beheadings in Iraq are another way station along the way to Beslan. The ideological embrace of the Iraqi resistance and the horrific bombing of civilians in Iraq has devalued all humanity. The 89 Iraqi pilgrims murdered in the al-Shura massacre by Zarqawis jihad are comrades to the murdered Russian children. Daniel Pearl, Paul Johnson, Fabrizio Quattrocchi and Kim Sun-il are their bigger brothers.

German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said: No argument can justify taking children hostage and threatening to kill them. French spokesman, Cecile Pozzo di Borgo, strongly condemned the hostage-taking, saying no cause could justify it. What cause can justify the targeted murder of their older siblings or their grandparents?

Until the UN demands immunity for Israeli and provides it to Iraqi children, every child in the world is in attendance at the Beslan School Number One.

After Frances clears this had better be the top story, but by then it will be old news! Can the attack on innocent children ever be "old news"?

Weekly Standard - great article on Bush's Greatness and the haters who hate him.

Sun Times flunks their "go's inta's" - seems an 11 point lead on their fingers is only 9. See Wizbang. Oh and amazingly the poll's headline was "Bush Opens Double-Digit Lead"

While your at Wizbang check out the media's lambasting of Kerry's Midnight Madness!

UPDATE: The AP admitted their story was wrong:
"This is a correction to an incorrect story posted by AP on Friday stating the crowd booed the President when he sent his good wishes. The crowd, in fact, did NOT boo."
However the action alert is still in place - they need to hear from every one of us, Democrat, Republican, and everyone ineptness!

Time Mag Poll has Bush up 11 points now Newsweek agrees! (Slings and Arrows!)

You know TTMK (The Talented Mr. Kerry) is also known as an International Man of Mystery because of his having "met" with foreign leaders who NEED him to win - well, now we have a mysterious midnight meeting with injured soldiers - at least it must have been midnight as no one can find when these meetings occurred. How weird Dean was saner then this guy!

The terrorists may have made another big miscalculation (9/11 was the biggest) with the attack in Russia. Not only is Russia declaring war on international terrorist, but comments like this are starting to come out from around the world - even the Muslim world, few but far between.
Slaughtering the innocents violates a universal human taboo. Or a nearly universal one. Those Muslims who preach Jihad against the West decided years ago that killing Jewish or Christian children is not only acceptable, but pleasing to their god when done by "martyrs."

It isn't politically correct to say this, of course. We're supposed to pretend that Islam is a "religion of peace." All right, then: It's time for Muslims to stand up for the once-noble, nearly lost traditions of their faith and condemn what Arab and Chechen terrorists and blasphemers did in the Russian town of Beslan.

If Muslim religious leaders around the world will not publicly condemn the taking of children as hostages and their subsequent slaughter — if those "men of faith" will not issue a condemnation without reservations or caveats — then no one need pretend any longer that all religions are equally sound and moral. I have often wondered how a religion can, somewhere along the line, come to believe that killing innocents is acceptable. It just doesn't make any sense to my brain - different way of thinking. Then there is this from World Net Daily: London

Where did a religion go so wrong! Is this where a people end up when they refuse to adapt, expand, and grow? Could this be where the Democrats are headed?

Amen Paragraph from the China Post:
"Most perpetrators of suicide operations in buses, schools and residential buildings around the world for the past 10 years have been Muslims," he wrote. Muslims will be unable to cleanse their image unless "we admit the scandalous facts," rather than offer condemnations or justifications.

And:
"If all the enemies of Islam united together and decided to harm it ... they wouldn't have ruined and harmed its image as much as the sons of Islam have done by their stupidity, miscalculations, and misunderstanding of the nature of this age," Bahgat wrote.

I am sick of those who continue to justify the killing of innocent people and transfer blame to America.

Then there is this half assed comment:"What happened ... is not jihad because our Islam obligates us to respect the souls of human beings," Akef said. "Real jihad should target occupiers of our lands only like the Palestinian and Iraqi resistance.

And this purely ignorant one:
"I have no doubt in my mind that this is the work of the Israelis who want to tarnish the image of Muslims and are working alongside Russians who have their own agenda against the Muslims in Chechnya," said Abdullah, reviving an old conspiracy theory altered to fit any situation.

Kinda clouds the ray of hope, but maybe Islam is getting it.

The Haters

In todays Daily Trek I mentioned the Weekly Standard article. Bush's Greatness goes into why Bush is a great President (and man I might add) and why the haters hate him.

Here are a couple key parts:
Notice (it is a thing we will have to explain) that this man hates Bush not because of but despite the facts. Has the Republican Congress decreed a U.S. version of the Nuremberg race laws? Has the administration transformed every American news source into a propaganda machine? Demanded that Jews (or anyone) be fired? That Jewish (or any other kind of) shops, businesses, professionals be boycotted? Propaganda posters everywhere? Students thrown out of schools? Secret police grabbing people off the streets? Children urged to inform on parents? All opposition parties banned? Churches harassed? A "Bush Youth" that every "Aryan" boy must join? Storm-troopers holding torchlight parades, singing hate-mongering war songs? Gigantic communal fines levied against Jews (or anyone else)? State-sponsored pogroms? Massive regimentation and rearmament? A führer cult and special schools to train disciples? Brutal suppression of all regime opponents? No? Actually America under Bush resembles Nazi Germany in no way whatsoever, isn't that so? Then why did you lie and say it did?

And 5 reasons they hate him:

* The hater knows all about his target automatically; no research required.a priori. Recall how many leftists were shocked when Bob Woodward informed them, in his Bush book, that the president was an alert, hands-on manager. They had known this to be false

* The hater harbors a stupendous conceit. Not long ago an Ivy League philosophy professor explained the political homogeneity of so many philosophy departments. Pure merit, he said; you have to be smart to be a philosophy professor, and conservatives are dumb, so what can you expect?

* The hater is moved by a terrible, frantic eagerness to set himself apart from "them." In the spring of 2003, an American pop-singer announced to her London audience, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

* The hater just knows that his opponent acts not on principle but out of greed or stupidity. At an anti-Iraq war demonstration in March 2004, the actor Woody Harrelson read a poem. "I recognize your face, I recognize your name. / Your daddy killed for oil, and you did the same." We often hear this "blood for oil" accusation. After the first Gulf War we had Iraqi and Kuwaiti oilfields in our grasp. If our goal was to steal oil, why did we give them back? Are we that stupid?

* The hater has no shame--because he knows (not by reason but automatically) that he is right. Thus a decent and likable retired businessman, rich and with every reason to be grateful to America--the survivor of Nazi Germany I've mentioned--accuses the president of closet fascism.

Read the whole thing, it's worth it.

World War Update - Russia Gets It!

The death toll in the Russian school hostage situation grew to over 200 and nearly 350 wounded! Vladimir Putin declared today that the hostage situation, car bombing in Moscow, and the 2 downed airliners were NOT isolated incidents and that Russia is now at war with international terrorists. (BTW, 9 or 10 of the hostage takers were Arabs according to reports.)

Our prayers go out to those who lost loved ones. Unlike Spain the Russian leaders have the strength to identify the real enemy. Hopefully the Russian people will get it too!

URGENT - Make Them Hear US

This is taken directly from the Captains Quarters - it is imperitive that every blog carry this story - the truth about the Media' s actions! Please let them know how disgusting this is and that they will be exposed!

AP Turns Cheers Into Boos, And Now Everybody Knows Their Name

My Northern Alliance colleague and fellow RNC blogger Hindrocket from Power Line notes a horrendous example of media bias that should shock anyone who reads the news. The Associated Press, one of the primary resources of the mainstream news media, deliberately reported false news regarding Republican reaction to Bill Clinton's emergency bypass operation to make GOP supporters and George Bush look petty and mean-spirited:

WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery." "He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally. Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them. Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."

I bolded the two sentences because if you read the AP's update, it disappeared without any explanation. Unfortunately, it was too late to keep the original report to show up in the print media, meaning if you read the newspapers, you're going to see the original and false story. Fortunately, Drudge carries the audio from the event proving that the story is completely false.

We've been used to the press reporting selectively on issues in order to make John Kerry look good and George Bush look bad. We've watched while the press ignored the Christmas in Cambodia mythology that Kerry spewed for three decades until the blogosphere finally forced them to report it. We've sat back and fumed while the press has made excuse after excuse for Kerry's collapsing campaign during this past month.

But this is far too outrageous for people to sit quietly by. It's one thing to report selectively; it's something completely different to write fiction and pass it off as news. The Associated Press has apparently decided to trade in its credibility with news readers and media sources in order to libel George Bush and a group of people who reacted in a most human and sympathetic fashion to the news of a political opponent's ill health.

Bias has been an ongoing problem at the AP and American media in general. In their desperation to unseat a popular president, they've finally resorted to outright, bald-faced lies. Are you happy to have your airwaves and your news sources hijacked by the rabid, dishonest, and unscrupulous partisans who run the Associated Press? Because if you're not, I would suggest you contact any news organization in your area and forward them Hindrocket's post at Power Line if they run the original version of the story.

Implosion 101 Moore's Disease

From Hugh Hewitt:

I discussed the options available to Kerry on yesterday's program with John Podhoretz and Terry Eastland --very smart guys who have been around presidents and campaigns for dozens of years. We all agreed that Kerry would never embrace the "Michael Moore option" of running on anger and paranoia because it is a recipe for electoral disaster. But that's what Kerry grabbed on to last night, in a speech that may go down in American history as the worst ever delivered by a nominee. It is reason enough, I think, to reject debates with this fellow, whose apparent problems and insecurities about the past are every day becoming more apparent. Wild accusations that every responsible memebr of his party's leaqdership know to be false must be sending shock waves through that group this morning. Can you imagine Joe Lieberman reading Kerry's remarks? Or even Bill Clinton? Kerry's lost it, and that he did so on a night when George Bush reminded America why our enemies fear his leadership.

Could this be to shore up the base or get those who saw Lie-N-Hype 9/11 (Fahrenheit 9/11 for those new here) and were prone to believe the lies? Are those really the people he needs to appeal to, is he really doing that bad in his internal tracking polls? The convention must have hurt him worse then I imagined.

Alphabet City has this great exchange with friends on the President.

Best line:
"No, George Bush is too nuanced. He's not hawkish enough." This drew howls of laughter from by buddies.

"No really, think about it guys. If George Bush had retaliated immediately, if George Bush weren't so concerned with creating a foundation in Afghanistan and Iraq from which democracy could flourish, if George Bush had acted unilaterally, if George Bush were the warmonger the left claims he is he would have wiped Kabul, Kandahar, Baghdad, Islamabad, Karachi, Riyadh and Tehran--to name but a few centers of militant Islam--off the map, and America and you and I would have had our revenge. Screw democracy for the Middle East. Screw the United Nations. Screw Chirac and Schroeder and Putin. Screw 'em. Screw 'em all. Give me a President who doesn't do nuance!

If only we had - but the hatred and all but man it does sound nice for a minute or two!

Of course the key is that George W. Bush has the ability to think and plan for the long term rather then just the immediate like many politicians and many of us in general.

Olympic Wrap Up - Thanks From Iraq

From The Mesopotamian:

Hi Friends,

The Olympic Games are over, and when the counting is done it seems that the United States has won an astonishing number of the medals. It is almost like half of the achievements to the Americans and half to the rest of humanity. Well, that is impressive. In a way it explains a lot of the so called “anti-Americanism” that exists in the world; plain old jealousy.

Well for us who are grateful for what America has done to liberate our country; we are pleased and proud of the achievements of our friends. Heart felt congratulations to the American people on this yet another demonstration of excellence and superiority.

Implosion 101 Just Not Getting It!

American Spectator Prowler:
It's not October, but the Kerry campaign is playing perhaps its final card for a surprise with the help of Dan Rather and "60 Minutes." On Wednesday, stories began breaking that Ben Barnes, the former speaker of the Texas House of Representatives and former lieutenant governor, was breaking his off and on silence and telling how he pulled strings to get a then-young George W. Bush into the Texas National Guard.

Barnes has consistently told reporters for years that no Bush family member ever directly contacted him for assistance in getting the young Bush into the Guard, but that Sidney Adger, a Houston businessman and friend of the Bush family, made the request. Adger is now deceased. At the time, George H.W. Bush was a U.S. congressman. Barnes has said that he did for Bush what he had done for the sons of other well-connected Texas families.

Every senior Texas National Guard official has stated that no favoritism was shown for Bush, and that Bush served honorably during his time in the National Guard.........
......
"This is clearly the Kerry campaign's response to the Swift Vets controversy, and we predicted that it would happen," says the Bush associate. "We've known it would come back at some point."

Okay, they just don't get it - he has been the CnC for 4 years now. This might have been news in 2000 but not now! This seems like a sign of desperation!

Silent Running: 'Black Triangle' Sightings on the Rise
By Leonard David

They have become legendary in UFO circles. Huge, silent-running “Flying Triangles” have been seen by ground observers creeping through the sky low and slow near cities and quietly cruising over highways...
The study points out: “The United States is currently experiencing a wave of Flying Triangle sightings that may have intensified in the 1990s, especially towards the latter part of the 1990s. The wave continues. The Flying Triangles are being openly deployed over and near population centers, including in the vicinity of major Interstate Highways.”
Covert operations?A key NIDS conclusion is that the actions of these triangular craft do not conform to previous patterns of covert deployment of unacknowledged aircraft. Furthermore, “neither the agendanor the origin of the Flying Triangles are currently known.”

What Did They Say - Drink What?

Okay, I have heard of the old world practice of using urine to wash hands and in WWI the gas masks required urine to activate the filter - but this is a bit much for me!
BANGKOK (AFP) - Drinking urine can eliminate sinus trouble, turn grey hair black and even cure cancer, a Thai academic said, citing a study of local Buddhists who engage in the unorthodox practice.Ratree Cheepudomwit, of the Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Development Department, said hundreds of urine drinkers attested that consuming a daily cup worked wonders for their overall health and helped slow the ageing process. She said that in June she queried 250 members of Santi Asoke, a strict indigenous Buddhist movement believed to have thousands of followers, and 204 respondents said they had learned from ancient Buddhist manucripts that drinking one's urine improved health."Of the respondents, 87 percent confirmed that it had head-to-toe benefits for them, including for example reduction of dandruff, grey hair, sinus problems and cancer," Ratree told AFP.The medical elixir was not easy on everyone's system, as about one in 10 urine drinkers suffered diarrhea afterwards, but the practice should not be viewed with disgust, she said."Other groups of people who drank urine were Buddhist monks who practised in accordance to scriptures which are more than 2,500 years old," she said.

The Talented Mr. Kerry - Exaggeration

From Daniel McKivergan @ The Weekly Standard:
SENATOR JOHN KERRY told veterans at the American Legion convention in Nashville today that America is engaged in a "global war on terror against an enemy unlike any we have known before." But last January he called the threat from this same enemy an "exaggeration."During the January 29, 2004 Democratic primary debate in South Carolina, Kerry was asked by NBC's Tom Brokaw if the Bush administration had exaggerated the threat of terrorism. To which Kerry responded: "I think there has been an exaggeration." Kerry went on to say, "The war on terror is less--it is occasionally military, and it will be, and it will continue to be for a long time. And we will need the best-trained and the most well-equipped and the most capable military, such as we have today. But it's primarily an intelligence and law enforcement operation." During the debate, Kerry's belief that the threat of terrorism had been exaggerated drew this response from Senator John Edwards, who evidently didn't want Kerry's statement to go unchallenged. "Can I just go back a moment ago--to a question you asked just a moment ago? You asked, I believe, Senator Kerry earlier whether there's an exaggeration of the threat of the war on terrorism.

It's just hard for me to see how you can say there's an exaggeration when thousands of people lost their lives on September the 11th."

World War and 2 by 4 Update - What Attack on Islam?

From Lawrence Auster at Frontpage Magazine comes this great snip:
In other words (are you listening, all you anti-war rightists and leftists?), the Islamists are targeting France not for what it does but for what it is—a secularized Western country that maintains a secular public culture, and therefore does not allow conspicuous religious symbols to be worn in state schools. In their ransom message to France, the kidnappers called the anti-headscarf rule "an attack on the Islamic religion." The phrase clearly suggests that France, simply by maintaining its own laws and customs, is committing an act of aggression against Islam. This Islamist view should be no surprise, given that Muslims see all non-Islamic countries as part of the dar al-harb, the Realm of War, which means that all inhabitants of that realm, in their mere existence as non-Muslims, are waging war against Islam

Excellent article read the whole thing!

Where Hatred Leads A Party!

Our nation is weaker, torn down because of the Democratic Party's hatred for our President and their rabid grasps at power - and the media is complicit. My paraphrase of Zell Miller.
DKK

Democrats, You over slept - It isn't 9/10 Anymore!

After reading a couple blogs I decided to do comparison between the two convention keynote speakers and how they reflect the parties attitudes. The difference was stunning and frankly scary!

You see I firmly believe that without security there is NOTHING else that the government can give me or do for me or promise me. When I am planting potatoes in the back yard because the economy has collapsed following the attack that killed a couple hundred thousand people in a few key cities all those promises don't add up to a hill of spit. That spit by the way I will have to reuse because the radiation has poisoned the water - far more then any damage the enviro wacko's falsely claim the President did!

This could happen! We would recover eventually. Remember the damage 9/11 caused? Virtually all the job loses Kerry loves to harp on happened in the first 3 months following that attack. Our economy reacted and the reaction was in effect equal to deleting a full year of the last 4! Imagine going the next month with just 3 weeks pay, or the next year on only 9 months pay! That was from a small attack in comparision to what could happen! Shoot, potatoes would probably be a treat!

Charles Krauthammer put it like this Blixful Amnesia (WaPo July 9, 2004):

There is no gradualness and there are no countermeasures to a dozen nuclear warheads detonating simultaneously in U.S. cities. Think of what just two envelopes of anthrax did to paralyze the capital of the world's greatest superpower. A serious, coordinated attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction could so shatter America as a functioning, advanced society that it would take generations to rebuild.

What is so dismaying is that such an obvious truth needs repeating. The passage of time, the propaganda of the anti-American left and the setbacks in Iraq have changed nothing of that truth. This is the first time in history that the knowledge of how to make society-destroying weapons has been democratized. Today small radical groups allied with small radical states can do the kind of damage to the world that in the past only a great, strategically located and industrialized power such as Germany or Japan could do.

Get my point? See Zell Miller was disgusted when Senator Daschle and his crew (of which Kerry was one) put politics ahead of national security - 11 times in 4 months they voted to put collective bargaining into the Homeland Security Department. Can you imagine the security of the nation on hold while a grievance is filed - remember the strangle hold the air traffic controllers thought they had on the country? Ronald Reagan had to fire them all in order to restore the security of air travel.

Well, now comes Andrew Sullivan who is back from his wonderful European month off (no wonder he needed such a huge fundraiser for his blog!) Back just in time to cry about not hearing enough about what this administration is going to do for us all with lines like this, "Two Small points: Cheney barely mentioned the economy. Almost no one has. They realize it's a liability...." But of course missing a month for vacation gives one an odd perspective I guess, making it okay for a full years economic activity to be zapped by terrorists! Fighting terrorists is doing something for the economy. I know that is hard to wrap your mind around, but remember the potatoes! Also, did he miss the President's actively fighting the Economic Front in this war on terror? Did he miss the active spending and the tax cuts? He complains about the deficit but never mention why it exists. Fighting a war when our economy is the front the terrorists prefer to attack is costly!

He raves on about how Obama
, "a post-racial, smiling, expansive young American, peaking about national unity and uplift." But rails on about," Then you see Zell Miller, his face rigid with anger, his eyes blazing with years of frustration as his Dixiecrat vision became slowly eclipsed among the Democrats. Remember who this man is: once a proud supporter of racial segregation, a man who lambasted LBJ for selling his soul to the negroes. His speech tonight was in this vein, a classic Dixiecrat speech, jammed with bald lies, straw men, and hateful rhetoric."

He doesn't get it! There were no bald lies, no straw men, no hateful rhetoric - just the facts! We were attacked, we are at war, and Kerry's votes happened! The only reason the Euro's can continue their nuanced - holier then thou lifestyle is because America has been there the last century to provide security and peace - face it America is the adult in the kindergarten world! Now some would have us turn to a more sensitive nuanced world view when that is simply putting on the blinders!

From Kerry Spot comes this from one of the Democrats in the Frank Luntz Focus Group (MSNBC):

Regarding Zell Miller: “"His entire focus was on terrorism and why we should be afraid.” "

OMG - BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

So back to the comparison - Obama failed to mentioned either 9/11, war on terror, terrorism, terrorist, radical, Muslim, security, national security, defense, attack, towers, (Pentagon was mentioned as wasting money but not as being attacked), weapons,
Afghanistan...you get the point...NOT ONE TIME! He did mention war 4 times - as a thing of the past, as an option where our service men will have the proper equipment, and to let us know that patriots can oppose Iraq! Also amazingly he did mention Vietnam twice - did you know Kerry was in Vietnam?

Now, to Zell - He discussed defense of the nation, terrorist, war on terror, 9/11, Afghanistan, defense - put it out there and admitted that his party politicized our nation's security in a manner that disgusted him! Along with other prominent members of his party they understand that without security there is nothing else and George W. Bush can best provide that security.

The old methods didn't keep us safe and didn't make people like us so why would we want to try that again?

That is the difference between the parties -for the Democrats terrorism is not only a law enforcement issue as Kerry put it, but it is the two ton elephant in the room no one wants to mention (You thought that was Michael Moore didn't you!). Republicans understand we are at war and you know what? They see the elephant and are shouting for everyone to wake up to the damage that elephant will do tolife as we know it if we don't unleash our own Elephant!

WW and 2 by 4 Update

The religion of peace (yea right!) gets it - but the Dem's still don't! We are at war people and they know how to fight it! The patience of these people is a never ending resource - after all they have waited hundreds of years for this opportunity!

From Healing Irag:
Mohammed Bashar Al-Faidhy, spokesman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, addressed the 'Iraqi resistance' in an open message at a press conference broadcast by the Arab satellite channels yesterday.

"To our brothers in the Islamic Army of Iraq. We wish to inform you that we totally understand the extreme rage that is boiling in your hearts regarding the French decision to ban the Hijab in their schools, and we share you your dissapointment. We officially condemned the French decision at the time... However, killing the two hostages without considering the grave consequences of such an act would be harmful to our cause and would isolate us from our international support... Our goal is to besiege the Americans politically in every spot of the world and this act is not serving that goal... You can see how the agents of the occupation are already using this incident against us... It is our duty as scholars to point out to our brothers what is wrong and what is right... France as an anti-occupation country has been helpful to our cause... You might say that the French stance is not an altruistic one and that they have their own political interests that caused them to disagree with the Americans, and I am not going to say that is not true but it is also our goal to turn them against each other to serve our cause so France has a strategic importance for us... Killing the two hostages is also not helpful to the 6 million Muslims in France... I beseech you to reconsider this and to release the two hostages and to promise us not to commit any act that would harm our cause in the future... We also hope that this development would permit the French government to reconsider their decision to ban the Hijab... When we become a free country Inshallah we will pursue this goal by diplomatic means."

Basically, he is saying: My dear children, it is true that they are infidels, but we should turn the infidels against each other whenever we have the opportunity. Do not kill these two infidels, maybe another time when no one is looking.
True, the French have Not been our friend - but they may start to realize that they are next!

Le Monde has this bit of wisdom:
They say that every cloud has a silver lining. The kidnapping of the two French journalists Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot and the blackmailing of the French government by the kidnappers to force the government to repeal its new law against wearing the Islamic veil in school has two objectives. The first is to show that no Western country, no democracy -- even one that, like France, opposed the American intervention in Iraq -- is sheltered from the fanaticism of the soldiers of the "holy war" launched on September 11, 2001 by Al Qaida. The second is to show that France, despite or even because of its status as the largest Muslim state in Europe, has become a preferred target of this ideological war. . . . [But the terrorists have missed their mark.] Even if the current consensus in France remains fragile, even if ambiguities remain, even if the law against wearing the Islamic veil remains for many Muslims a strike at their religious liberty, we can do nothing but rejoice to see French Muslims on the front line of defense of the Republic. Accept Nomination
Great Hair comment - knew that was coming!
Day born FDR birthday!

Dream big dream country -
Accomplishments:
- Schools (NCLB) for every child!
- Economy out from recession, 9/11, tax cuts working!
- Home ownership at all time high
- Healthcare - best in world, making it more affordable and accessible
but more to do, Tort Reform and med malpractice
- Preserving freedom and security

Protester drowned out by "four more years, four more years!"

Grandchildren and all America's children safe and in peace.

False beliefs four years ago - history awoke us with 19 men armed with knives and boarding passes, but worse what could happen with chem and other weapons - as in other times in a war not chosen but one we must win!

Firm resolve to win!

Terrorists had attacked freely before, but they didn't know America and GWB!
Captured or killed hundreds of Al Qaida.
Dealt with Afghanistan, Dealt with Iraq now Saddam sits in jail.
Libya capitulates, weapons locked up in US, never to threaten America.
Black market uranium market shut down - worlds largest source of black market nuclear weapons out of business.

Praise for servicemen - courage, compassion, winning! Brave men this nation will honor forever!

Confidence, loyalty, and respect of Commander In Chief!

Election - more in balance then who will lead nation, but how we will confront the dangers ahead. Another defining moment just as we did after WWII.
Policies will move Mid East to the lasting peace only freedom can bring.
2004 one of the most important in all history.
Comparisons:
Honor Kerry (applause) but record of 3 decades since! Differences are great.
Time and again Kerry on wrong side - deploy troops only with UN, against winning cold war, against Desert Storm, even after 9/11 - more sensitive
"As if Al Qaida will be impressed with our softer side"
Kerry declared at convention that he will defend US vigorously after we are attacked - we have already been attacked!
We cannot wait till next attack. Kerry denounces action as if the object of our foreign policy was to please a few critics!
"GWB will never seek a permission slip to defend the American People"
Kerry votes - for then against - funding men in the field -
Chants of Flip-Flop, Flip-Flop
Kerry campaigning for position of cnc but doesn't understand first obligation of cnc and that is to support American troops in combat. One of a hundred votes and fortunately on natl sec his views rarely prevailed - but as President.......alwasy casts the deciding vote. We need someone we can count on to get it right.
Iraq, Kerry's liveliest disagreement is with himself (flip flop chant from crowd) - habit of indecision as part of a pattern. For nclb, nafta, patriot act, Kerry sees two America's then it is mutual because America sees too John Kerry's!
America knows and admires GWB - Speaks plainly and means what he says, loyalty, kindness, great personal strength with a heart for weak vulnerable and afflicted.

Moral seriousness that calls Evil by it's name!

Great divide of our time he has put nation where it belongs - against tyrants and on the side of people who yearn for freedom.

Signs are good, even in Mass! Officer in Boston gave directions after DNC, leave here and go vote Republican.
(four more years...........)
When America was created the stars must have danced in the sky (historian)
No doubt where we stand!
We will lead our cause to victory!

Started slow, but he really is a good speaker!
